I searched for this but didn’t really find anything…
I have an open, outdoor map. How can you fix the max map visibility error?
And how is it caused is it just being to big of a map or what???
Thanks in advance.

Q.
Max Map Visibility
A. Occurs when you have made a large map and too much is visible on screen or its just so huge the engine cant make the map. Try adding some vis blockers and making the map visually smaller.
thanks for the reply.
I did search and read a whole bunchof them, and none of them really helped…
alright, also i think using detail brushes would help this problem… not 100% sure. if you havnt used any yet, you should start anyway.
I use structural for walls and terrain for everything else details (or entities). Is that how I should use them?
What DWM|Commando means is that there are 2 different types of brushes. Structural and Detail.
The way you change the type of it is by clicking on the brush, going to view? and the last 2 options on the list will be :
Make brush Structural
Make brush Detail
I believe, been a week since I have touched it so bear with me, might not be exact.
He said detail brushes might help this problem I guess I was asking if there was another place I should be putting them. So is there? :???:
Ok, this might be a far fetched way of saying this but here goes, and it might not even be right lol…
Take a skyscrapper… imagine your map is a skyscrapper w/o floors, but all the offices are still there floating… Could you see it all w/o having to look really hard and move to see everything? no…
This is sort of what the map is saying, there is too much area seen at one time. So what you need to do in you map is just add floors/seperators to make the area smaller cause the game/compile can’t do that big of an area at one time.
Ok, if this is wrong, everyone is gonna have fun laughing at this post
Read these two tutorials and internalize the information. Post back after you’ve read them, if you have questions.

Bondo, I believe the problem is that his map is being cut up into TOO MANY parts, which exceeds the allowable number.
cro172,
Are you making some kind of large mortar map or just a very large outdoor map w/ little buildings?
Well I was just kind of making a map to see how radiant works and see how well I design certain buildings and things. So pretty big outdoor map. I wanted to experiment with light and fog.
