Matchmaking

This game really needs some sort of matchmaking system, people say no matter what level there is no difference…really…I get paired up with a full enemy team of level 20+ and they get equal score vs our 1k each…shuffle is an option but it doesn’t help when the enemy team votes no, just my opinion because it’s quite annoying getting stomped every game.

Level doesn’t mean anything. Only playtime.

They need skill based team evening…that’s what i’m saying, and level does mean a lot, are you telling me you don’t learn anything about the game even if you’re level 100?

There is the competive/ranked mode for skill based balanced teams.

Casual/Quickjoin tries to sort a bit based on skill after a match (and only after a match) but since people constantly join/leave that usually doesn’t work that well. Think of the casual servers as a communal playground everyone is free to join and you play against whoever is their no matter the skill level.

You can’t measure skill.

Skill can’t be counted with any metric or system in-game.

If we are talking pubs here then pub matches, at the start of the lobby for each map, are sorted by an ELO system that is based on how well you performed in your last 10 games. However, if people leave and new people join this sorting isn’t used as the team with the fewest players will always get the new player first. Also, some people switch teams to play with friends.

If you’re talking about ranked then it does something similar where it will use your rank + your play in your previous matches and match you up against similar skilled players. Or it will try to. Failing this it will match you up with anybody (either more or less skilled) in an effort to get you a match fast. Because what happens if you don’t get a match fast then people start making posts where they never get a match. If the entire populace of DB was playing ranked instead of mostly being on pub servers this wouldn’t be a rough issue. But due to the smaller populace doing ranked MM it can be.

So there is a system behind matchups. It just might not work in your favor due to how it’s implemented. But changing it produces other problems of equal waited. A damned if you do and damned if you don’t situation really.

I see a lot of players in my casual games that would be better served in the max level 5 servers, though either they don’t know about them or weren’t quick joined there. As much as level alone isn’t a full indicator of skill, those who have put the time into the game and thus have a higher level tend to be more familiar with it. Even if this doesn’t mean “being rank 10 = skilled player” it does mean that, more often than not, a team full of level 10s will crush a team full of 5 and unders.

I made it to level 10 yet I feel like i still have a lot to learn about how to play each character.

Competitive matchmaking really needs some tweaking.

This is what happened earlier in my comp game:

They obviously played together. Blocking them out of ranking because the majority is worse than them?

level means nothing. use server browser. dont use matchmaking. dont worry about the browser “comp” thing atm as the ranks mean nothing - except bragging right (and they are nothing to brag about)
