Matchmaking totally out of balance?

(Sgt) #1

Every time I join (last 12 competetive matches I’ve joined) I seem to get pared with clans (Usually 3-5 players from one clan), this ends up with a total decimation of my team, resulting in gameplay ruined for the evening :(.

Is it just me or is the matchmaking so screwed up that it actually pares single-players with whole clans? If so, why isn’t this something that has been fixed or even looked into?

It is a known problem and we have enough threads about this.

Solution, force every one to Match making  And give one day sanction for disconnecting

The problem is the player pool is too small right now, so you’re going to have mismatched games.

But then again…maybe that’s a good thing for now, so people know the level of play they need to be at to compete.

You can’t expect to win games right away, comon now be realistic.

This. There’s just not enough good players to have each team with equal golds/cobalts. Especially when most higher ranks are in groups, you’re bound to get stuck with unrankeds vs. golds+. The only solution is to take your lumps and get better and start looking for your own groups to queue with.

Personally I don’t think it’s too big of an issue, because there’s no way around the necessity of improving to actually succeed in competitive. You won’t get consistent groups anyways if all you’re looking for is an easy, external way of getting easier matches. Nothing supplants self improvement.

I do understand your sentiment though, it does seem lame getting put with bad players and put up against better ones. Regardless of what they do to matchmaking this will always be the case because of the size of the game’s community. On top of having a smaller community, imagine how small a fraction of it would be. That fraction is the competitive player pool.

All I can recommend is: find a group to play and grow with, or just keep having fun in pubs. In time you will improve and this won’t seem as big of an issue to you anymore. Best of luck.

I never said anything that I expected to win games right away. I’ve played 90% of my matches competetive (Had to play public until I was level 5, never looked back after reaching 5). But when you end up getting spawnkilled because either your team ragequits, or the 5 people that was in a party when queueing are steamrolling you so bad that they push up to spawn just to hammer you down as you spawn in, then there’s not much to do than sit down and afk until the match is over…

I consider myself a pretty decent player, even if I don’t have that much playtime. I’m ranked gold 3 and soon gold 2. This has nothing to do with skills imho, teamwork is key from my experience and when you are sitting on VOIP (TS, Skype etc) with 4 other people with pre-set tactics and so on, you’re going to have the upper-edge.
I guess going into comp isn’t rly recommended if you don’t have a team to join up with
