There is something a bit off with the matchmaking system in Brink. At least for the PS3 I have noticed. I can never get into a decent multiplayer match. Every time I try to play verse actual players the teams end up being completely unbalanced or it puts me in a room by myself and I end up playing the game like campaign mode.
For example all last nite I kept getting into matches where one team would have 5-6 real players and the other team would have 2. If the standard settings has auto-balance on that does not seem very balanced to me. Thats roughly 8 real players so should they not be split into teams of 4 and then bots fill in the rest until more players join? Once that happens it trades off players every time someone new joins putting one on security one on resistance until the team is full of real players.
Granted maybe it is not splitting the teams up even because those people are friends so are automatically put in a fireteam but I highly doubt that is the case for every match I have joined. Also this brings me to another point if you join someone on your friends list you should not automatically be put on there team you should have the choice. Granted I like playing with my friends but if a team is outnumbered I would be more than happy to play on that side until the numbers even out.
Also you should be able to switch factions between matches. I tried multiple times to go to the other team to try and balance things out and the option to switch factions only had to switch to a spectator and would not allow me to switch to the other side.
This game is great but the multiplayer aspect is lackluster at this point in time. I have yet to get into a decent multiplayer match they are typically one sides with one team full of actual players and the other AI with a sprinkle of 1-2 actual players sometimes or I am constantly being thrown into my own room with no one else joining.Either way I am basically playing the campaign alone or co-op instead of playing multiplayer like I want. It is really starting to get frustrating because I have played through the campaign alone 5-6 times already because I cannot get into a good multiplayer match.
They need to patch the matchmaking system or create a lobby system to where the match won’t start until the room is full or has an even number of players on each side.
