Matchmaking Mayhem & Limited Edition Reward Inbound!

Hey all!

With Dirty Bomb offline, we’ve been crushing bugs, improving matchmaking and fine-tuning the game; and boy do we miss you! We miss you SO much that we are bringing DB back online for some intense bursts of multiplayer mayhem. The service will be available during these times:

But wait- there’s more! Since you’ve been so patient and awesome and good looking, when you play at least one game during this period you will receive a Limited Edition Case containing an Obsidian Loadout Card! You will get these bad boys once Dirty Bomb starts up its live service again a short time after these tests.
Ok, ok so we do miss you, but we also need you . We’re running these tests to put matchmaking through its paces, and stress out the entire Dirty Bomb infrastructure.

Between each session, we’ll be evaluating the test results and implementing changes to improve the experience. You may well see old and definitely new faces showing up during this period, so be sure to welcome everyone with a smile (followed by a swiftly delivered bullet to the brainbox). While game time availability will be limited, we hope that you’ll enjoy the wealth of players to demolish during these sessions (try to go easy on the beginners, eh)?

As is the nature of betas- we will be focus firing our testing where we see fit. This means you may or may not see matchmaking turned on and off as well as different game modes and maps popping in and out during this period of testing. We will keep you posted on any changes.

Okay so is there an explanation or a Tiered Loadout Card system that I missed somewhere? What is an ‘Obsidian’ Loadout Card? Where is that on a scale relative to any of the other Loadout Cards? Right now to me it doesn’t mean much, so can we get an overview? (or just link me to where I missed it). Obsidian, Gold, Granite, Platinum, Legendary, Buttcheeks…

Anyway definitely looking forward to seeing everyone in game this weekend!

LOADs of codes have been sent out tonight, so make sure to check your mailbox. If you weren’t one of the lucky people, then you’ll have to be a tad more patient and wait for a future test.

Apologies, we’ll be making tweaks to the Loadout Card, introducing a new design and structure. Obsidian cards are the rarest out there and they look, so getting your hands on one of those’ll be pretty neat. They look awesome by the way ;).

I hope the server browser will be back, or else I’m back to W:ET, ETQW (or Brink, if there were players). Couldn’t believe it when I cancelled the auto search, thinking I had overlooked the server browser, and got a “penalty” for not accepting the offered match. I literally sat there for 30 seconds and couldn’t believe my eyes. My favourite MP developers for 12 years, implementing such c***p?? Can’t be true.

Due to that I was only motivated to play one round (I played many, many hours during previous beta phases), and nearly fell asleep every time I had to run to the scene of battle. The arty guy is so slooow now…

Then you missed it. There is a server browser, but it is disabled periodicly serverside, every few hours, for testing matchmaking.

That’s good to know, thanks. Some other players on that server were also wondering about the same thing. Maybe some info about this should have been included in the announcement.

My team members even communicated with each other :OOO

Sure, but in contrast to the other game modes (the ones on the left), server browser was not greyed out and marked as “back soon”, but disappeared completely, and isn’t mentioned in that announcement either.

I have no doubt SD is aware their real followers are oldschool, and for them disappearance of free server choice easily causes a red light to go off. :wink:

server browser is only available in casual, not really that hard to understand, most SD followers have an actual brain

@Connector - The server browser is very much a feature that will remain in the game. Outside of MM stress testing, the server browser should be available at all times.
