Matchmaking - kill it with fire :) + 2 suggestions.

Hi guys, the title was meant a joke, as Matchmaking isn’t working properly yet. I do appreciate the work being done.

I have read PixelTwitch’s thread (I’ll have to try his solution next time) and what he is saying is in line with what I think might be happening: it seems the matchmaking tool is not stopping looking for matches, as it keeps popping up dialogue boxes even after we pressed ‘accept’.
So we might being placed in multiple queues at the same time, thus failing to join/start a game.

Not sure if it’s any helpful but here is a 12 minute video of an unsuccessful Matchmaking attempt.
I managed to find matches last Saturday (when Matchmaking was active) and one of the player’s complaints was that they were being put in different continent servers.
I started playing ‘Dead Island: Epidemic’ and they have the option of setting our preferential server for when finding matches. I’m sure that other games have something similar (I’m just a casual gamer) and it needs to be implemented at some point in Dirty Bomb.

They also have this interesting little visual cue, when you are found a match to join and are waiting for the other players. A dialogue box pops up showing the total number of players, which fills up as they accept to join. I think it is a good UX option,as it is showing how it’s progressing as you wait.
Although not essential it is nevertheless something that would be ‘nice’ to see implemented in Dirty Bomb’s matchmaking.

Here is a short 20 seconds videos showing the server option and the ‘Waiting for players’ animation in ‘Dead Island: Epidemic’
