Massive lag, rendering game literally unplayable

ok, so i have checked everything my side. i have a 4GHz i7 quad-core and the GTX 980ti, along with similarly high-end components all running Windows 10 so all that should be perfectly fine. however, whenever i play a game my character will start to randomly teleport all over the place. usually a few feet at a time. but he’ll just jump from place to place, and eventually stop responding to any input from me.

what’s going on?

I think this is less of a problem with your PC, because that stuff is pretty high-end, and more of a problem with your internet connection. If your ping is high enough, you won’t move at all.

My ping is usually around 15-30 so it shouldn’t be an issue

I believe low ping does not equal a lag free experience, though.
I don’t know a lot about this topic but it could be rubber banding or packet loss.
Maybe @Amerika has an idea?

That sounds like you’re overheating to me. Download a program called Open Hardware Monitor (it’s free/open source) and start it up. Then turn on DB and try to play. Then, after you’ve seen the issue, turn DB off. Go back to Open hardware monitor and it should show you how hot your CPU cores currently are and how how they actually got.

Most Intel i7’s idle in between 27-40c depending on the model and, with DB playing, shouldn’t get any hotter than 60-62c but shouldn’t’ start causing any issues until you start getting north of 75c. I have a feeling you’re hitting the 100c limit where the processor starts to clock itself down to keep from burning up based on the issue you said you have.

If you do find out that your processor is overheating you need to re-seat the fan and possibly reapply thermal paste (and you’ll need to remove the other paste first).

my case has 3 fans, with multiple internal fans as well. i could freeze a steak using the air coming out the back

Same problem here I upgraded to I7 5820k and 980ti yesterday and the main menu is laggy and in game is unplayable with inconsistent frame rates

Same here, and it’s gettin worse with each subsequent update. Tried reïnstalling the game completely today: makes no difference.
