Mass shader creation

(Danyboy) #1

I’ve been given the task of sorting out over 300 textures and updating the shaders from Q3 to ET and adding ET’s own surfaceparms to some textures.

Is there a lovely program out there that can go through an entire directory and write out standard shaders for each texture. That way I can touch up the liquids, fogs & landmines myself.

Browsed through some etmain shaders and saw this:

generated by ShaderCleaner

Googled it but got zilch

Not that I’m aware of.
You shouldn’t need to update anything particularly, unless there’s a few errant surfaceparms that no longer work, but any reasonable text editor can do a file-wide search/replace on these.
Updating just for updating’s sake doesn’t seem worthwhile on so many files, ok a implicitmap - shader looks simpler in the editor, but that’s about all the difference it makes. Sure for creating shaders from scratch it’s great, but for simply updating? I’d erm… take the easy route with so many, and not bother
