Maschinenpistole 40 (MP40) — Beta

(William Faure) #1

A remade version of the famous gun of Return to Castle Wolfenstein has been released.

This remastered gun — extracted from The Dark Army: Uprising — is compatible with each version of the original game.
It will help you to wait for the modification it’s from.

Not available in multi-player
This model isn’t available in the multi-player game mode; it doesn’t erase the old one, both will be in the directory.
The old model is being used for the multi-player game mode as this new one is being used for the single-player part.

Can be un-installed at any time
You can un-install this weapon model at any time — deleting the installed .PK3 file allows you to simply uninstall it.
Note that the automatic installation executable doesn’t provide any un-install program — the best way to not pollute the Windows registry. That’s why you have to manually un-install deleting the file in question.

Exclusively compatible with Windows
Note that this product is exclusively compatible with Windows systems.
It’s not compatible with Mac and Linux systems.
Nothing is [currently] planned regarding a future release on both of these systems, for various reasons (mainly about programming).

Highly better in The Dark Army: Uprising
One last thing to note is that this product is a Beta version of the Maschinenpistole 40 (MP40) remade gun.
Going to be featured in the upcoming single-player standalone modification of Return to Castle Wolfenstein called [URL="[The Dark Army: Uprising](http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-dark-army), the gun will be highly better, as it will be finalized, when the project in question will be released to the public, soon this year.

Enjoy playing with this amazing gun, once again!

This is just a beta version?! I assume your add-on is going to be mindblowing, mate!
We’ll be here, patiently waiting, but it’ll be worth the wait!

That’s right — it’s only a Beta and the final model will see its textures improved in The Dark Army: Uprising.

There will be fixes as well as .shader files for every gun.

As you can see in this Beta (if you downloaded it), there’s no .shader file.

These files (really important in fact) will provide visual effects such as reflections/glowing effects to the models.

I intentionally not provided the .shader file in the Beta for a simple reason:
some visual effects are only compatible with ioRtCW.

Later (of course), I’ll make compatible these guns (and their .shader file)
with the original RtCW and ET (especially ET: Legacy).

This is great news, thanks for sharing.
The ioRtcw engine really has my attention.

It’s a very stable engine in my opinion, and it fixes a lot of bugs from the original game’s engine.
