Mapping Help

(Emilios1310) #1

Hey guys, I am new at mapping. I am following a tutorial by 2bit, and I am on the first steps.

I have compiled an example room and named it Unnamed.bsp .
When I load ET, and then do /devmap unnamed , it comes with a message:

RE_WorldMap: Map maps/unnamed.bsp cannot be found .

Help please?

You packed the map in a pk3?
If not you must use /sv_pure 0 to load maps from your etmain folders.
Else probably wrong typing or such kind of errors…

RE_WorldMap: Map maps/unnamed.bsp cannot be found .

That’s just the tipical message you recieve when you try to load your map without “/sv_pure 0” like Backsnipe said.
So before you type the “/devmap unnamed” in your console you need to set “/sv_pure” to 0.

Thanks guys!

No problem, mate!
If you ever receive an error again, just post in this thread again. We will try to help you. I know it from me that the beginning is really hard

Hey guys! I was trying to make a new map, but I can’t compile it because it comes with an “ENTITY LEAKED” error. I have made sure to put the map near the XY axis. See for yourselves.

You’re box is not closed check where the red line goes out and close it.

(KeMoN) #8

Check whether your hull brushes “skybox”-brushes close up completely or if there is a small gap between the brushes.

Then press P in Radiant to open the prefences menu.
When you use GtkRadiant 1.4 go to BSP Monitoring if you use 1.5 go to BUILD

In both cases you get some lines with checkboxes. One says Stop compiling on leak just uncheck the box.

> your map will compile whether there is a leak or not.

Thank you, I fixed it!

Hey again, I tried to compile my map and I got this weird error when I devmap it:

SV_SetBrushModel: NULL

What does it mean and how can I fix it? Thanks!

Yep, this page helped me out a lot of times
I also received that error. Just copy everything and paste it in a new map, like the page recommends where backsnipe linked you to.
