Mapping Editor?

(Aea) #1

The GtkRadiant-1.3.8-ET Editor is really unusual, is it possible to make a make in Hammer (yes you read me right), save it as a .map and appy the entities and texturing in GtkRadiant-1.3.8-ET?

You can make radiant very similar to hammer. Goto the preferences and select the layout section -> quad views. I too hate the three window layout that radiant defaults to. Most of the tools (like edge/vertex manipulation, clipping et al) work very similar to hammer so you should pick it up in no time. Texturing is a little different, but personally I prefer the radiant method.

Well, right now my issues are with texturing, it’s really confusing in a way, how do you texture with the 4 windows (hammer) config?

It is a little odd, but after a while it will be second nature.

In the 3D view, hold down ctrl+shift, then click to select faces. (you can also drag the mouse around to ‘paint’ select). Once selected you can click on any texture in the texture broswer (shortcut ‘t’) to paste them onto the surfaces. Also, you can drag any texture from the texture window onto the surfaces in the 3D view if you prefer.

If you have faces selected and decide you want others. You have to hold ctrl+shift+alt to click select extra.

To modify faces that are selected, press ‘s’ to bring up the surface inspector. The features are pretty self explanitory.

Also:

Shift + S brings up the patch surface editor.

To copy a texture from one face to another, select the face to be textured, then click on the face with the desired texture using the middle mouse button or mouse wheel.
