mapping /campaign projects?

Hi

Just start off…
Ive been mapping for ages now, just as little hobby (first mapping /editing was on Wolfenstein 3D!!! :drink: that i did) , mainly i do modeling/graphics stuff. And ive never done real map for any community… usually i only learn the map editor and do some very detail part of the map ,then just move on to the next one (game/editor)… :=)

now ive set a goal for myself, to make atleast one map for a ET :))

so im wondering now that is there this any people doing any projects to do a campaign(s), multiple maps that fit together as a one campaign?
or anything like this… id like to learn more from others that really know what they are doing :slight_smile:

Just a thought and possiblity that im seriously considering.
or will i be wasting my time to even try? i know this will take time (even more time after i checked the scripting thread…)

I also have a goal to create 1 map for Wolf, I’ve only ever done 1 previously.

I want it to be detail based, and look reaonably on par with SD’s maps.

My primary concern is that I won’t be able to make 3 maps, just one, so I need to find some folks to campaign with.

I done a couple of maps for CS and SoF2 previously.
And I agree - it would be nice to link our maps togheter to campaigns.

So far, here are the map ideas I will work with:

  1. PROPAGANDA. Allies have to infiltrate a heavily guarded Axis fort to destroy the communications tower. However there is another sneak way into the complex through pipes at a nearby lake. However, the allies must constructs dams first to lower the waterlevel to be able to access the pipes. Id like rain in this map, and same same fantastic depressing feeling as in ET-Radar.

  2. WITHDRAWAL. The Allies are advancing fast and the Axis are leaving North Africa in a hurry. In the harbour of a Tunis seaport there is gold waiting for transportation to Italy. The Allies must prevent this by stealing the gold, and loading it onto another ship. To reach the gold the allies must steal a smaller boat, drive it to a guarded palace. Outside the palace, the boat will function as a bridge and give Allies access to the Palace. The Allies must fight their way through the palace to get to harbour. Finally the gold is stored at the end of a long pier…

I think I would like to do something very gothic, and decrepit. Like a battle in an area that’s been mined to HELL.

how about a axis lunar rocket base.
Allies have to cut off communications Then Blow the rocket .
before the axis get the rocket fueled and launch it at America!!

Axis must load fuel into the rocket by building a pump
then the targeting computer can only launch if the communications tower is working

the axis have the ability to open the rocket bay doors and dump all oxygen out in to space. (killing every on in the room)
allies can close it if they can get to the controls.

I need something to do with my summer, and I’d really like to get back into mapping, since I haven’t done anything since Q3A. So far I’ve come up with three ideas.

[ul][li]Allies are attacking an Axis mine and must dynamite mine machinery. This would be a multi-level thing, so the command map may be a bit of a challenge. It could be arranged if neccesary so that no layers overlap.
[/li][li]Axis are at a train depot and must load supplies onto a train. They drive a cart from the spawn to the back of the depot, load up the supplies, and drive back to the train. Allies can slow them down by putting up razor wire on the road, and by dynamiting the train tracks.
[/li][li]Allies are trying to sabotage an Axis submarine. Allies start off on a boat, and can row a raft out by the sub to build a floating command post. They then try to get inside and blow up the engine. There’s a hatch on top they can use to get in, or a covert ops can open an emergency hatch near the bottom. A map like this could be a nice break from panzer whores and airstrikes.[/ul]
[/li]The second one is most likely to be done. I’ve drawn up a preliminary sketch of what I want, but right now it’s a little smaller than what I’d like. What I’m worried about is that making vehicles requires modelling, and I have no experience at all with that.

I’m working on an Indiana Jones campaign now, although, I’d rather not do it alone.

I’m setting up a site now as a base for all those who are interested… it should be up sometime this week.

So far, I’ve taken screen captures from Raiders of the Lost ark, as well as some early hand drawn (crappy… I’m no artist) concept art and level layouts.

What I plan on doing is blogging this so people can follow the progress as it goes along.

Right now, I’m scanning in books I checked out on Egyptian Arcitecture. the first level will take place in some ruins, underground, as well as an Axis Sub Pen… pretty crazy, and lots to do if anyone is interested.

The map is based on Raiders of the Lost Ark. After this map, I’d like to work on one for Temple of Doom and the Last Crusade.

I haven’t really annouced this formally yet, but I have a good feeling about this project… I’d like to get more people involved :slight_smile:

Hummer, I’d be interested in Level testing for you. And I created a nice looking map with good FPS with wolf, but only finished about 1/6th of it (involved lots of house to house fighting and a open train depot all heavily destroyed from heavy allied bombing) At the time spawn camping was a real bitch (still is) so I made it near impossible to directly spawn camp.
The computer hard drive died a horrible death and so I don’t have the .map anymore. Anyway, enough talking about me. I’d like to help you with this in some way, a small role. (no artistic talent with me btw)

Cool… check out the Indiana Jones thread in this forum… I just made a an official post about this project :slight_smile:

When I get enough people maybe we can kick some other ideas around and get started … for now I’m just preplanning stuff out…

Bout 5-6 of us making an Operation Overlord camapign

Map 1 is Omha Beach landing - the terrain for which is alsmot complete
