Hi and sorry for this question. Thinking to buy PC + monitor. How big monitor ? 20 - small , 22 - not so high but large , 24 - too big ? Thx
Mappers how big monitor do you have + your PC ?
22" here
But when I look at my crotch and then back at the screen i just feel that my screen is lacking…
jk xD
I don’t know for sure, but I think it is a 19 inch screen here. Anyway,
Scientific seen, the best size is 24" to work on. Bigger one’s, like 26 inch are too big to still work handy. + Remeber the engery usage. Don’t know much bout it, but normaly the bigger the screen, the exponential the watt’s. Anyway, what’s up with that new led technology?
Btw there can be a hudge difference. I think its better to buy a 22 inch screen with low power usage and a high contrast, low response times and so fort, instead of a big ass 26 one
I just got a 26" samsung that is also an HDTV. The low contrast isn’t so great for gaming, but the big screen is nice for mapping. Since my video card has both DVI and VGA outputs, I still have my old 19" CRT monitor hooked up as well. This way I can use the 19" as an extended desktop, or as a clone of the main desktop. This way, I can still test the lighting of my map using the CRT. If you get a screen that big, make sure you have enough room on your desk to push it back. Otherwise, you’ll have to turn your head a little to look at the left and right edges.

Maybe you should by a sports car to put your screen in?
Two 15" LCD monitors here.
I do need an upgrade because the colours are fading and the resolution ain’t that high, but the setup still works great.
I got 17" like Thorn3 has, suits good for me and is perfect for my eyes. CRT
Get’s confusing when i have lot’s of programs running around everywhere and don’t have space for them all to see what is going on.
hey Kic! if you are going to buy a computer, then buy one without windows, you can save at least 20% or even 40% from buing a blank computer. install ubuntu and dont buy crappy windows!
pm if you got questions,
why everyone always have to use linux? i’m fine with windows. just use it with common sense.
well if you buy a new computer then 40% of the prize is the software, imagine saving 40% when you buy a computer, and you get total free softaware that is about 10 times better, and never crash compared to windows xp and vista.
Tyrlop Linux cant run all software and games for Windows. And yes I know some emulators for Linux - Wine …
Hey, it can run W:ET!
Also, Linux works well for modern pc’s as well, although you’re right that it might take a year before your new hardware is completely supported by the kernel.
