I’m working on a new level for wolf ET. A couple of months back, I made an alpha test of my terrain and textures which worked fine, but it was much smaller than this newer version. The old one had a heightmap of 32x32 pixels, the new one is 64x64. Now I know the standard is 32x32, but I’ve heard of combining multiple terrains in ET… so I’m a bit confused here. My setcoordsmins on the new one is about -4544 4576, setcoordsmaxs 4608 -4608. I set this in the worldspawn.
When importing from Easygen, I checked insert a spawnpoint, but no other spawns have been placed in GTK yet. The dreaded L-crash is all I get, even after checking the coords about 3 times. The map looks and loads fine in spectactor of course, but I can’t get into limbo like I could with the alpha test with the 32x32 pixel heightmap. Any ideas?
Map too large?
Hmmm… yeah I noticed on Hummer’s site he was talking about that. I didn’t have to put that into consideration with the old one, but it looks like I’ll have to do the math with this one. Thanks Java.Lang.
Tried setting mins to -4600 4600 and maxs to 4600 -4600. Still crashes. Am I mssing something here?
Have you named the keys “setcoords…s”?
Should be mapcoordsmins and mapcoordsmaxs.
Just like in another thread, did you make sure to include your blue, red and info_player_deathmatch entities?
There’s no such thing. I don’t know who made this 32x32 bs up, but it’s not true. Your alphamap can be any size you want and so can you heightmap in easygen.
The reason your map is crashing is cause you need to add your blue and red spawns and your info_player_deathmatch entities like java sugested.
I did have “set” instead of “map” <DOH!> and the only spawn I had was info_player_start. I didn’t have red/blue spawns yet. I got that 32x32 info from my making terrain for rtcw days, and it’s probably well outdated. It had been so long since I did the test version of this map that a lot of this stuff had slipped my mind. Thanks.
