map - the dome

(shrewdCodex) #1

lets discuss it.
i really like the map, its not to big, it has may ways to move, when you know it a bit. i played it about 10 times (?) and i always found a new way. i think, its one of the better maps, where you can find ways to oumanoveur your enemies. (soory, a little bit drunk this time, and my english is not the best^^) but what i wanted to say, is that… i really like the dome map, its better than some others (like chapel, that one is a bit lame, but fun^^). toput it short, its short, funky with the mass of ways, and i really can wait for more maps like that

Yeah it’s not a linear map like the others. It is really nice.

That part kinda threw me off lol. But yes, this map has many ways to flank the enemy, but there are some spots I think the Devs should open since some jump spots are pretty useless.

sorry, hada very nice meal an some gin,… but tha does’t matter. Yes you’r right, the jump spots are kinda needless, i dont use them. but good point, they are nearly useless. i think they could be removed (btw. i saw some guys shoot at them:P) i mean, when wou tried to to move in the game/maps you know how to jump, so the points are irrelevant. maybe it would be more funny to ad points, that give you jump.boosts (like some old jump’n’run-games) that would be funny

And yes, some open walls would be nice, bu its difficult to keep the balance of the map. the way it is, its one of the fairest maps, for each team. and i reall hope that that map will be implemented. maybe with more blasted walls :stuck_out_tongue:

Jump spots are great for surprising enemies and creating a crossfire, which will 9 out of 10 times win you the fight if you manage to do it right.

(misspo) #6

Well at first the same is very strange and you have to get a bit used to it. But i got to say, it’s a really fine map and devs did put effort in it. I hope they are going to release dom to the public soon with textures

Would be amazing if devs still have many creatives ideas. Keep it up

Great map, new players will hate it though. It’s so easy to flank someone that doesn’t understand it.

I love the jumps in Dome, a lot of the constructable ramps can be completely bypassed with good jumps. Saves a little time if you aren’t an engineer, and you can catch an enemy off guard if they don’t think you can get up somewhere from a side that hasn’t been built.

Doesn’t this thread belong in map discussion?

Besides that, I’m for any map where jumping skills give you an advantage.

(Jurmabones) #10

I like the extra jumping spots, but at the same time I feel like there’s too much useless “ground space,” and like I spend too much time running to rather than fighting enemies.

I put in a couple rounds on it earlier today and for the first time ever I enjoyed it. They fixed up a few things that I had issues with in regards to dead routes and weird areas setup to do jumps but not setup for game flow. None of my games lasted very long though so I didn’t get to see the whole thing but the first section is pretty strong now IMO.

I’m not doing a whole lot tomorrow (today) and I’ll put in some serious time on it I think.

I like it very much:
many ways, many buildings, open windows, wall holes, … a guerilla map!
I like it!

(Vexed) #13

I played a few rounds for the first time today, and I think what I like most about it is the way that the middle stage is either/or. It’s something we’ve not seen before and it helps take the map’s multiple-approaches philosophy even further.

I just hope we don’t end up with the community deciding that one site is easier and straight up forgetting the other one exists. So many people seem interested only in taking the “theoretical best” approach that it stifles creativity.
