map shadows, possible to add from bsp?

In another game (half-life 2), it was possible to compile a map, without lightning…
Then you could do that step later with the bsp, wihtout needing the map file.
What I wonder is, if that is possible in et? Cause many maps have no lightmap… which looks not good… lol

Hi!

As I understand you, you want to remake a finished custom map that has no lights/shadows. To add light/shadows, in one, easy process. (Given that you have the mapper’s permission of course.) No, I do not think that is possible, in one, easy process. Cannot the original mapper just recompile it with the lights in it?

AFAIK that would only be possible if informations about the light entities was stored in the bsp and ET does not do this

well not really thought about copyright,
sure if possible the original mapper would be way better…

but there exist lots of maps, which are in early beta state, which the mapper cant be contacted, im no artist, so I do like to make such unplayable maps, into a state where they can be played without bugs, and if possible with visual improvements. e.g. mapshadows…

(well Im planning my own map… but oO Im planning since over a year… so dunno if I ever start with)

so from your answer, I guess I would have to decompile the map, fix it as needed, make the shadows and add them to the original one?
well if its that - its sysiphus work - which I surely will not do… lol; since I got no experience with radiant…
