It feelt like I was outside the community from the beginning,

then I asked another mapper from here for help, He did never take it seriously, he did put bugs in it that was bigger than empire state building…
Thats called trolling…
so I faced him, and asked directly in a mail: are you trying to troll me?
he answeared: nope, did gave my best, good luck with the map in the future

Its still not clear if he did try to troll me or not, but he did never give his best anyway, becouse this kinda big bugs dont exist in HIS maps.
I can release a unsencored version of b4 direct from him…

but still it just feels like the mappers only wanna destroy for each other…
If they had missiles would the bomb the others pcs to prevent other maps?

KeMoN commented my map as a map with to high ambient and a lack of realistic atmophere,
released b6… and I had also followed $A$ team when they did break out from quark… just becouse they where friendly, not becouse they did test the map siriously… whatever, the new community had a server and the owner did put the map into it, becouse he feeled it was good…

then I did make a thread here, and the only thing I noticed was that I getting offended, some kind of disguised way…

Here comes my last (and I mean last) attempt to calm this situation down.

after reading all this drama back and forth I see no reason why anyone is trying to exclude you from anything. No idea what you mean with that you didn’t receive the help you wanted in this Forum (my experience is extremely the opposite). I also did not give you a bad reputation (what I definitely could have done) because I think this situation is not worth it. Of course I can take criticism, in fact I appreciate if people criticize me because it helps me to improve. I also accept your criticism but you are nor criticizing, you are attacking. Giving someone a bad reputation because he criticized you is in your opinion worth a bad reputation? Only if you didn’t understand the meaning of critic, which is to help and not to fool you. You might notice that this is a fine line and if people don’t help you or criticize you, just take it as it is or just ignore it if you feel better. I have no bad feelings about you at all (maybe I’m getting to old for this kindergarden stuff). I just think you are blowing something here. You are reminding me of a cat that scratches people with borderline reason and that then complains that no one want to play with it. You can be sure I will never comment on a post from you because you can’t stand anything else except complements. I hope your map is going to a hit. If not, you can just claim that this forum turned the world upside down to compromise you getting the nobel prize.

You make to much drama about it. Each person can give critism and it seems that some ppl tried to give advise on something they noticed on your map.
Just leave it like this now and just post about your map.

Stuff I noticed testing your map (b6):

scripts/ arena file: longname “^1Norwegian ^7Battery^4b6”
Put a “space” between “battery” and “b6” (just for the look)

Allies first spawn: Maybe add the crickets sounds there too? It is so quiet :slight_smile:

Allies spawn moving left the way up and gone left: There is a axis door and I lost myself in the corridor. Maybe add some lights there?

I noticed you made it possible to jump up to the hills. I like itbut I think you should clip the hills and the house on allies spawn because it can be used to spawnkill from top (heavy spawnkill).

I wish you would clip the huge hill at the downside of the map (at the sea).

The doors at “the gate” and upper at the command post is moving so fast. Better slower it :smiley:

The gun controll looks nice but would be better with some stairs so we can look out.

As of me, I already let you know I had an important exam, thus I couldn’t at least play ET before that Saturday; That’s why I haven’t given feedback yet.

People doesn’t always reply or know what to reply. A very example in one of your post: you pointed on my map the road was black… But nobody posted this fact on any topic I posted about the release on the Internet, excepted KeMoN through the IRC :slight_smile:

@Teuthis Eighteen weeks can be enough to build a very good map, and to convince you I can take a special example being Pirates, the winning map of… a speed mapping contest (I think its length was 1 week or something like this?).
OK, participants was experienced mappers, but it is possible when you plan your map and know what to do and what you want to map very quickly. Even for beginners :slight_smile:

Double-post to keep things well-seperated:

  • FPS are good! While flying as spec I get 42k tris, so while playing it is always lower, can’t be better ^^
  • The noise on the beach is nice, the side with rock and the grassy top could be reworked to be noisy too :slight_smile:
  • You can use SimonOC tutorial about texture blending on several parts, like between the dirt path and grass or the rock at the seaside and the sandy bottom of the sea :slight_smile:
  • Shadows are nice, a bit raw on edges, phong shading could help, used with blending as suggested would be neat!
  • As Irata pointed, the map is really silent. I thought about a silent night, but it feels really weird to play through a map that silent o.o
  • Command Map is nice (little typo: made and not maded).
  • Respawn time of 20 is fine too :slight_smile:
  • I see you’ve forbidden the use of landmines on the road, nice
  • There’s a double-door near an Allied Spawn where you have to jump to get through it, this shouldn’t be required
  • In teh same interior, the lights can block the player while jumping, I suggest to raise a bit the ceiling, if possible; Also, these lights are supposed to be longer, not squared (see the texture)
  • The lights in the wooden room doesn’t have the bulbs (also missing in Supply if you see what I mean); There again, you have to jump to get back to the corridor.
  • I like the overhaul trenchy style and the houses with the night atmosphere, nicely done :slight_smile: Wooden and rocky passages too!
  • Light intensity in interiors seems (too) strong in houses :confused:
  • You can skip the dynamitable wooden barrier by jumping on the roofs.

There is a piece of invisible wall on the back of the bunker with the gun in it.
I think you forgot to include the .prt file in the pk3
I think you could improve the looks of the map by making the ocean have more waves and the terrain blend.(rock blends into grass)
The map is really bright. Try ambient 8 and then add more lights to tunnels that are too dark. (like lights on the walls)

In that case I think you need to check your portals again. When I’m in allied spawn I can see trees and houses on the far side of the map. That’s why I thought you were missing the .prt file, but seems like the portals aren’t done very well. If you move around the map with r_showtris 2 most of the map is constantly drawn. (Also proved by the 35K+? tris as mentioned by Mateos)

to jump on roofs, yes ofcourse, but you’re a big sign with the text shoot me when you do it…

I suggest to just try it with -light faster (should take less than 1 minute to compile). Then you can see the difference for yourself and see if it’s worth it.

Radar has an ambient value of 18, and it is a night map; I was more shocked by the sunny day inside the houses than the exterior (the shadows are fine imho).

I had 42k+ tris while flying as spec, again.

Was a 3 day bump, geez. I just felt i had to say this: be glad that there was some feedback. And that one “wrong” feedback threw you off that much? As i know, there was a good amount of feedback, also in the wolfteam forums. This is more valuable than nothing :smiley: That is all i wanted to say … i speak from my own experience here, because better some and the one wrong feedback, than total ignorance, for whatever reason … maybe you can see this point, maybe not, just something i wanted to comment on …
