[Map release] Mountain

As I started following tutorials for mapping I came up with the idea of making a map with a hill or mountain in the middle. Certain aspects of tutorials gave me ideas, and now here it is, My first finished map: Mountain.

I don’t have much scripting skills, so I asked Wezelkrozum his help. He kinda helped me finishing the map, and did kinda all the scripting.

Its quite simple, nonetheless I think it is a fun map to play. I haven’t played it online yet as I don’t own a server, if you have a server and want to run this map, go ahead.

There is a ‘secret’ way of getting on top of the axis spawn. I was thinking of making a rope connection between the spawn and the tower. Any ideas are much appreciated

It doesn’t look bad, trough water and snow don’t go good togeter, but that’s just a detail. Also, the treeline at the edge of the map is alot the same. Try to find a good way to ‘close’ your map.

For a first map, its not bad, but it needs improvements :smiley:

For the edge of the map: I just did copy paste with all the tree models and put a clip weapon in front of it :D. And do you think I should add a thin line of ice on top of the water, so that they should swim under the ice?

Well i think adding ice is not a good idea, since it will probably be too thin to go under, nor on. I would suggest making it lower and make it full ice. But you can leave it water too, if you want to.

I would not use cilp_weapon! For instance, grenades will bounce off that clip_weapon, witch is strange.
I would use normal clip, making it inpossible for people to pass, but nades just fly trough :slight_smile:

Nice but you need to work with that terrain. Also the treeline end is little weird looking. You should learn terrain blending, and make there for example mountains around the map to end it. You could keep like 1/5 of the trees on the mountain, to keep the unique look.

Ps. If the blending isn’t working: if you use 1.5.0; download the newest (or if you wanna stick to older version, update q3map2), if you use 1.4.0; update your q3map2.

Well, I didn’t follow the tutorial, I just made some mountains around, but they aren’t really high :smiley:
I kept the treeline but I made the clip_weapon clip, so you can throw nades through it. I made a rope connection between the tower and the axis spawn making a great sniping spot on top of the tower.

I also added ice on the water in the tunnel, the ice can be destroyed by shooting it or so, the chunks have 80 health.
