Map Preference

Hey,

Been a while since I’ve done this, but I’d just like to get a quick idea of which maps you folk prefer most right now.

Specifically I’d like to know your map preferences based on flow, scale and combat spaces, rather than the specific objective types it includes.

I picked WC, but only cause of the new splodey stuff all over the map

WC but I am picking the best out of many bad maps so that doesn’t say too much. However, WC is the closest to being ready.

if possible, add 1 voice for bridge-alt (i voted for only WC)

Don’t really know what to go for, most maps do some things really nicely, but there isn’t a map I feel does everything really well.

Bridge/Bridge Alt - The alt version is better in everyway, EV position in market, transmit location.
Terminal - Only 2 objectives, first objective is too defendable, and several choke points with no alternative routes.
Underground - Only 2 objectives, too linear and corridor like, silly KOTH objectives.
Trainyard - Only 2 objectives, very short, and first objective is too defendable.
Whitechapel - Last objective is too defense heavy, but for the most part the rest of it seems pretty decent.
Dockyard - Love how the crane objective mixes up the field of play, but as with trainyard the first objective is too defendable.
Dome - Silly KOTH objectives, don’t really have an opinion on the rest of the map yet as it hasn’t been in the map rotation yet.

Guess I’ll say Bridge Alt, Whitechapel and Dockyard for now then.

TL;DR - 3 or 4 objective maps, not 2… (and yes, I’ll still be barking on about this even if you add 25 side objectives)

I want to play the full Trainyard and Victora needs a new set of objectives -.-

Would be cool to see some more pick ups on Dome if you folk haven’t been playing it much, I feel like the second half of the map now is much more like what you’ve been asking for.

I would have picked it before playing vs decent players on it and realising that it turns into long range battles with many defenders on roof.
After playing it a good few times now, I personally feel its the worst map in game :S

WC is good (not great), alt bridge is decent and the rest are very poor (with Underground/Canary Wharf winning worst map ever by a landslide).

alt bridge is decent but the last 2 phases are just… let’s just say not even thought out. After the objective is grabbed, there should be another phase to the map where the defense gets to setup. Not that open space where people just run around and gun each other.

so, Dome is Greenwich + 2nd phase?
i havent played it.
but greenwich is a no go, because of capture-zones for me. (secondary objs there are fine.)

I actually like the new Canary Wharf… They have improved it a lot but I do wish it was exctended link in the sprint videos… The current one is over in like 4 min on a good push and it only takes that long because of the 100 second c4 timer (something that I do not have a problem with) I just wish the map was at least one objective longer… I just wish it would go outside like in the video.

It is, but it needs balancing. I played the version of the last patch (not sure if you changed it in the new update), and yes the last stage had good side objectives and multiple routes, but as attackers you get raped each time because the objective is way too easy to control for the defense. It’s the only reason I didn’t pick Dome in this list.

Otherwise WC because it’s ok right now. I still would like to see more side objectives like gates to block some routes. Also I would like to have access to the chapel, it reminded me fondly of W:ET and was nice. Maybe it could be reopened to host a forward spawn for the second stage of the attack ? With this I think WC would be a complete map and ready for shipping.

CW is nicer with the update, I like the capture of the first objective and planting C4 on the last one instead of the hacking devices. I wish though that the elevator becomes a constructible/destroyable side objective just like the pump for the side route on the last objective.

I see globally more side objectives, but there is still a lack of variety about them (repair pump, deploy cover). I think that without proper forward spawn it is harder for you to put more types of side objectives. First with forward spawns you need less side objectives, then you can have a great deal of variety about how to block routes (gates, pumps, barricades, elevators, containers + crane, electro-magnetic lift + container, etc). Also with forward spawns come the command posts which were fantastic to help the attack to push. They also change the pace of the game a lot and it’s variable, giving a real sensation of a battlefront that moves back and forth. Right now it’s spawn raping or being spawn raped most of the time.

Would also like to see the inside of the Chapel opened up, and maybe a playable area around the Chapel. It’s by far the best map, although it certainly isn’t a great map.

Has it been available to play anywhere except on the VIP servers? I’ve yet to see it in-game…

yep but the 1rst part is still horrible with this 2 captures zones as main obj …

And yes Old camden was the best maps you made, but since you cut the maps in half WC is the only “playable” map, that’s not mean it’s a good map, but the last traetment you put on this map is the way you need to go, with more routes, more access, more tricks, more space. Look like Dome last part get that treatment to I hope all the maps will have this kind of rework.

Many maps are so short, making spawnrape a national sport … cause there is not enough routes or possibilities. Now we have short CS maps … And we are not playing CS.
