Map of the Ark - Anyone have one?

(Faux) #1

I love the Ark and want every bit of information I can get about it. That said, I’ve looked around for a while now and haven’t been able to find a map of the Ark anywhere. For my purposes, I’m looking for either a top down or isometric map of the entire Ark. (All of the pelgos, the breakwater wall, and, ideally, any sort of unseen (below water) infrastructure.

I think there are some brief glimpses of Ark maps in the game (either during the cinematics or maybe as textures in maps), but since the SDK isn’t out and (from what I’ve read) the game files aren’t accessible (even on PC), I’m not sure where I can get one. (An in game screenshot is a possibility, but I’d prefer something… higher resolution.)

So does anyone have a map of the Ark or know where I can find one?

I’m going to be positive and hope there was one released as part of some promotional drive or something. (Or, better yet, someone from SD with access to their Perforce server [or whatever version control solution they use] can dig one up for me.

The intro movie showed the ark in its entirety in a builders model set.

It dont believe it had anything pointed out other than the wall which we never see in the game anyway.

You can also find the builders model on their website http://www.brinkthegame.com/ark/island/

Let the flash load and the map will appear

Thanks for that! It’s close to what I’m looking for, but it’s still really difficult to make out details since you can’t move, zoom, or pan. :frowning:

Until they release the SDK, I might just go get some in game shots and see if they’re workable at all. (Beef up texture settings, etc.)

If anyone else knows of other map sources, let me know!

Just tried something on my own that worked out pretty well, so I thought I’d list it here in case anyone else wants a map.

Get your hands on a copy of the (free) RAD Video Tools from their official site.

Open the RAD Video Tools up and browse to the Brink installation directory on your PC. ( C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\brink\base\video\assets )

Convert the video into an image format. (I used Jpeg.)

You’ll get a jpeg of every frame of the video. Simply delete the ones you don’t want and keep the map-relevant images.

Be warned! It’ll be a lot of images and take up (sometimes) nearly a gig of memory. Works out pretty well though, I think.
