[Map] No name yet. WIP

(etSpeer.) #1

Hello everybody!

After years I decided to pick up mapping again.
I never had a real big project, just a small fragmap called HeState! Which I re-found myself here: http://www.enemyterritory-stuff.net/maps/ (thanks to the hoster!) Filename hestate.rar

Now I finaly decided to make something big, and hopefully well received by all of you!

The map is in very early stage, I didn’t even test it in ET yet. However I have made screenshots in Radiant.
I’ve only created one big room, where are boxes, a stairs the big door which is the first objective to blow up.

The game will start in the outside area and for a change it will be the Axis who have to accomplish their objectives.

The screenshots are attached to this post.

I’d love some critics!

p.s I’m creating the projects webpage too! Plus probably some prefabs and tutorials, but that for later!

edit: The map got a name! Called: Cold Fort!

Some (big) updates!

I’ve created the website which is located here: http://mapping.stephanhondeveld.com/

As you can see, not everything is completed yet but the layout and projects/home page are fully working!
Soon I’ll start with the tutorials and prefabs.

I’ve also tested the map in-game for the first time yesterday late and I was amazed myself! I have the feeling this will be something great!
Of course i’ve just started the map, but it has potential to become a great thing!
The map received the name ‘Cold Fort’. Why? would you think. Well, because the outside area would be in winter time while the objectives are taking place in the big ‘fort’!

First screenshots can be found on my website under ‘projects > Cold Fort’ left in the menu.
However, here are already some below:

More are located on the explained webpage.

p.s: Any moderator who could change the title to: ‘[Map] Cold Fort. WIP’ ?

(Mateos) #3

When you edit your first post, you can edit the title, isn’t it?

(etSpeer.) #4

I tried that, however can only edit the post’s title, but not the thread title.

(UJERebel) #5

I tought it worked when you edited the title in the first post?

(Mateos) #6

He’s right, just tried on my 1944 Nordwind 2, can only edit the post title ><

Btw, the second screenshot looks interesting for Garand

I’m here with a new map update!

The mapping is going pretty well with some minor problems which are fixed now!
I’ve created the objectives already. Axis has to blow up Main Gate and/or Side Wall and advance to the basement and open the Objectives Door with the button to be able to steal the Gold.
In meanwhile the Allied can construct the Allied Fence to avoid the Axis for advancing via de Side to the basement and they can also defend the Objectives Door button and if needed close it once it’s opened.
Ones the Gold has been stolen, the Allies have to stop the Axis for bringing it to their truck outside the fort.
And in meanwhile they have the option to construct the Neutral Command Post and defend it!

Newest screenshots(some, see bottom for more):

Outside area:

Main entrance :

First Axis spawn:

Construction for the Allied Fence, and cave to (not decided yet, something with Allied spawn after Main Gate blown):

Objectives Door once closed:

Great work, keep it up. One way to bring life into the map is to toss trash and debries on the ground. I put single planks, random rocks, and similar, on the ground and inside my corridors, just to (desperately?) bring some detail into the maps. I m not talking about large objects here, just some small, almost non-noticeable, things.

I would like to highlight this, what would you suggest for interiors?

Atm I just found paper to put on ground, a broken light lying on ground, oil decal, leaking at top of walls, breaks; Any other suggestion?

(ailmanki) #14

For interiors (actually also exterior) one very important thing is to use lightning. In reality each light source is different, mostly this can be noted from one room to another. Since the light is precompiled, you can go all out with lightning. Modify each light source a little. Maybe one bulb is older then another…

(macbeth) #15

we are playing it since yesterday , good map

Thanks ailmanki
