map leak but no map leak?

(Digm) #1

Yes, the noob is confused again.

After finally getting a terrain to compile correctly, I decided to actually make one I’d use, but now I’m gettin map leak errors!

This normally wouldn’t be a problem if they were normal. When compiled, there is no error box that pops up, and there is no red line to show the path of the leak. So, the only way I even know that I have a leak is the error I manually check in console, and the messed up screen when I actually test it.

So are there more than one type of leak? The map itself is as simple as can be - a huge box with the terrain inside, spawn points, script_multiplayer, info_deathmatch & min/maxs defined. I’ve scanned every possible place at highest zoom and don’t see any problem. Any idea what could be the problem?

You probably have an entity that somehow got outside your map box. Close radiant then open it again. Look around outside for an errant entity somewhere

Also map can leak if you don’t have info_player_deathmatch placed in the map.

I got it too and i think it was the origin in an entitie because i copied one from goldrush

(redfella) #5

Are you using thin mesh on your terrain? I’m not sure if thin mesh leaks, but it could be a possibility.

leaks are also caused by entities being stuck inside structural geometry or too close to structural geometry(about 1 unit).

I fixed it… really stupid mistake.

I had created a info_player_deathmatch, but somehow it wasn’t there. I don’t know whether I didn’t save, or accidentally deleted, but either way it wasn’t there.

I get the DOH! award for the day :stuck_out_tongue:
