Map is vertexlight / no lightmap ?

(Yatta) #1

Hello, i have trouble compiling my map lights. Whatever i do, and whatever is the light compile time, it seems that the whole map is only vertex light, giving bad ‘lights cuts’ and such. Theres ‘shading’, but no actual shadows anywhere.

Here’s my compile params :

[q3map2] -light -fast -external -bounce 3 -lomem -areascale 1.7 -scale 1.3 -samples 2 -lightmapsize 1024 -v -sky 1.6 “[MapFile]”

And my worldspawn :

blocksize 8196 8196 8196
_lightmapscale 4

Map is mainly lit with surfacelights
I use -notjunc in bsp compile, is that the problem ?

I tought it had something to dowith my shaders, but the lighting is the same on stock shaders.
I guess the answer must be obvious as im not understanding the light parameters so well …

SOLVED:

Im retarded. For some reason out at some point I decided that “-external” meant to use less memory by using more hard drive. It actually means it generate the lightmap in EXTERNAL tga files … so if I dont copy those files to ET, of course, no lightmap.
