Map Idea on Offer

Hi Guys.

I cant map to save myslef but I’ve got a few ideas. I had a bit of a brain storm this aftternoon and came up with something that looks (to me) pretty cool involving a train, some explosives and a bridge. I’ve drawn up some reasonably detailed sketches along with notes on how I think this would work and be fairly well balanced.

If this sounds interesting to anyone then please PM me and i’ll make the complete details available.

I would have put this up with the original post but here’s a bit of an outline of how I could see this working:

Basically this is what I thought could happen:
The allies must obtain a train from the rail yards, take this to the ammo depot where it will be loaded with explosives before taking it to destroy the suspension bridge thus hampering the supply routes of the Nazi forces.

  1. Secure the train
  2. Build the command post
  3. Take train to ammo depot
  4. Operate controls to load ammo onto train
  5. Take train to bridge
  6. Set the charges
    7.Detonate the charges to destroy the bridge

Nice setup, looks good so far. This could definitly work out. Good layout too concerning visibility and stuff.

some IMHO points and questions:

  • You should define what is allied contructable and what is axis
  • Is the forward spawn for allied or axis or both?
  • I think the forward spawn should definetly exist otherwise the allied do not have a change… but the spawn should be more in middle of the map so allied must travel more. Maybe the spawn should be activated for allies when they have loaded the ammo or something.
  • Is the command post little too near axis spawn. I think it should be more neutral area.
    -Where is the healt and ammo cabs? I think they are needed.
  • You should provide another route out from allied spawn othervise its railgun effect all over again.

This is just an idea that I am putting out for anybody who is interested in doing a map and can’t think of something. If someone wants this then I’m more than happy for them to change anything they want and to “fix” the simple design that I had put up.

I agree Seven about most of the things that you mentioned.

Constructibles:
A - Command Post - both Allies and Axis (I agree that it probably is too close to Axis)
B - MG Tower - Axis
C - MG42 - Probably both
D - Detonator Charge - Allies
E - Fence - Axis build although it’s originally there but allies can blow out a section of this with a satchel charge.

I think that a forward spawn should exist but I was not sure where so the fact that it’s seems to be floating was because I didn’t know where to put it

Health and ammo could be located in a few places like somewhere in the village but not the station since this would make the hold on the train to strong, maybe near the ammo depot but again maybe too strong, another option might be the tunnel from the house out to near the bridge?

An extra route coming out of the initial allies spawn could circle around to the right into the back of the village. The only thing is that the village is not really the emphasis of this map (hopefully if some one will do it)

My sone is really into trains and everywhere we go he points to them and gets excited. This is partially where the idea comes from.

The spawn point definately has to be put in otherwise the allies have to walk miles to get to the train and the axis can easily stop allied advancements on the bridge. I think it would be best to have it near the track points or at the ammo depot.
I would love to do this map but I have to finish mine off first (should be done in a month, Schaffer i’ll PM you to test it when its done). I would be happy to help somebody out with this map though, they’d just have to do more of the preliminary work.

Here are some ideas for maps I too am just getting into MoDs but map ideas were here

  1. A Blimp (the Hendonburg) a fight inside,high in the clouds, death fall below!
  2. Atlastis (simialar to pool map) under water dome city
  3. Mt Rushmore let blow up a face or dance around there nose
  4. Ifull tower of Paris
  5. Staute of Liberty
  6. Alien world during their fight a glow light hits the battle field both sides now continue over alien terrian!
