Map Freezing?

i am making a new map ( first one that is decent). I have made others before just as tests to figure out what all my map editor can do ( lots of freezing).

On my new map, I can get the limbo menu to come up, join a team, BUT, when the 60 second warmup hits 40, the game freezes.

In map I have :

bluespawn
wolf_obj
redspawn
wolf_obj
Players_Deathmach

any help?

You have a script?

if so, you will need a script_muiltiplayer

also, check the console for errors (and i think there is a log)

Did you enter those mapcoordnmins and mapcoordmaxs (or whatever they are called) in the worldspawn entity? Common misstake.

If the coords are missing one is not able to enter the game.
valor can enter the map.
Thats strange.
Can’t remember if I’ve ever heard of such a behaviour.

You could try a search for freeze here in the forums (2 sides).
And take a look at the threads.

May be there are too many pk3-files in your etmain directory.
As far as I remember this also causes the map to freeze.
May be wrong with the last assumption.

uhh… I’d just like to say that i made an entire map without ever inserting the map coords or making a script_multiplayer and it worked just fine. the map coords are just for the command map/compas and the script_multiplayer is if in the script you need to set the default respawn times, the default states of objectives, tell the game what to do when the time limit hits,and tell the game what to do if the objective is dropped stolen or returned. Of course you can add different things to if like triggers and such but if you are just using a team_WOLF_checkpoint with a script name i never needed a script_multiplayer. But I’m sure somone will disagree and I could always be wrong. <------ Pessamist

W:ET 2.60 is quite good in this, you don’t need to have all settings. W:ET 1.0 on the other hand… The command map caused a crash for sure. At that time, you even needed to set g_gametype to “2” every time you wanted to try your map.

well, i then set my mapcoordsmins and mapcoordsmaxs and it wouldnt even let me load the map lol :S

When ET crashes, what happens more in detail? Does it freeze (screen turns static) the computer and you have to re-boot?
Does it crash just the game and shut down ET?
Can you locate and open the file called etconsole.log (or whatever it is called, I cannot remember)? If yes, open and see if there are any hints there.
Do you get any warnings at all, like “Wrong Setautospawn” (I made that one up).

this may be the same prob, but when i host my map on etpub the et console freezes when someone connects and does all white and just doesnt respond. works fine in etmain…mins and maxs done…supports mutiple people, just on on etpub… and this in on a dedi box…

Anyway, valor, try playing your map in etmain, if your using a clean install however this odviously shouldnt be a problem :stuck_out_tongue:
