MAP: Exodus (alpha 4b)

Before braging about the map i must ask a fundamental question:
Does the fog steal fps?..

I heard somewhere that fog and it’s “vis cutting” rise fps amount…
but after adding it to the map some people shout: “ffs, my fps 10 :0 !!!”
…and that don’t sound good for me.

Alpha 4b don’t have a fog… and it is much more ugly than alpha 3…

I love the map, and so do people on my server, but ive had to remove it when people were complaining its too dark. Not everyone tweeks their settings. So if you could make the next alpha brighter, unless your making it beta

I had a quick look at this map an here are some minor things I noticed:

Not much to say

Z-fighting

Left: A little hole
Right: same wall with z-fighting. Maybe you should rebuild the whole wall.

The lighting is strange. Lightspots without a light source…

Ah and when I spawned, I looked at the wall (right image above). A 180° rotation of the spawns would be good IMO.

All in all I like the map but it’s really too dark. Try using something like _minlight 15 in the worldspawn and get rid of all those unrealistic looking small light sources.
One last thing. I’m not very good in English but as far as I can tell, the map and objective description have some mistakes in writing/grammar.

mlyn3k* use grid/vertex lighting it’s much better and there isn’t random lights

Well, I’v played the map on a server, with 10+ people on each team.

It went well for Allies, including me, but we couldn’t get throu to the church. The Axis were to good, or the Allies were to bad, or it might be because we didn’t have to many ways to choose.

But I had fun!

On a map layout like yours Fog will most likely improve FPS but buildings will pop out of nowhere becase you use the wrong skybox. YOU MOST OF THE TIME MUST USE SKYBOX sd_railgun for it to work right.

i thought so but after removing the fog noone claimed about very low fps any more…

will need to do more tests… maybe here? will add fog to a4b and call it a4c…

Theres a few faces that shouldn’t be chalked around the top of the wall and above the command post.

Also, players can climb up a lot of the walls that are broken. I think sometimes this is intentional (like the flag building) but in other places you can get up to where the floor is chalked (that building opposite the church - you need a boost for this).
