Map descriptions in ObjData file..?

For example the battery.objdata file starts with these:

wm_mapdescription allied "Remove the threat to Allied shipping by silencing the Siegfried 15 inch battery: fight your way into the battery and dynamite the Gun Controls."
wm_mapdescription axis "Our mighty Siegfried 38cm shore battery is terrorizing Allied shipping. Protect Siegfried from Allied sabotage."
wm_mapdescription neutral "The mighty Axis shore battery 'Siegfried' is harassing Allied shipping in the Mediterranean. The Axis must protect Siegfried from Allied attempts at sabotage."

This may be a stupid question but… I have been playing ET for more than 5 years (on and off) but I can’t remember ever seeing these…

Are they used at all by the game? And if yes, where, what are they for, when do they show…?

Is there a limit to the number of objectives you can have?
I am referring to the “wm_number_of_objectives” line in the script, or the “wm_objective_status <number>” lines (which should match afaik), or the number of objective descriptions in the objdata file (which should also match)…?

I was pretty sure there was a limit but I cannot find it…

Thanks. PK3 Creator v0.2 coming up, including automatic texture and model importing, and an Objective Data Generator tool!

I also cleaned up the source a little, now looking at the best way to release the source (I feel simply zipping up the project folder and posting that is not the best way maybe :tongue:)

I think it took me 3 years to notice it. Oh, and it only works well on official maps, custom maps may vary.

I did know that, although it also took me about 3 years, maybe 4 :tongue: I think most people became aware of its existence through the (very annoying) “!news” command in some mod (etpub? dunno)…

I always wanted to add some kind of secret message to that news reel… Unfortunately, I haven’t finished a single map yet :smiley:
