Map conflict

(BMW) #1

Hi all,

I am making a map and I tested it by hosting a server on my computer and connecting from another computer. The other computer downloads a different pk3 from the server… i do not know why it is doing this… it must think it needs some files from the other map…
Here is a link to the two maps (beach_bbq is the map I am making and etdo_b6 is just a random map I had in etmain).

Does anyone know why this would be happening?

Do you have sv_pure 0?

(BMW) #3

No. I made my map into a pk3, so I shouldn’t need sv_pure 0

I hope you did not take accidentally textures from etdo_b6 when you made your map?

Or maybe etdo_b6 has a .campaign inside it which makes it auto-downloaded by the clients?

Well, he said he does it on another computer so he needs to redownload all maps he has in etmain and which are missing? Or I understood wrong.
I mean:
1st computer -> used as server without clean etmain
2nd computer -> joining the server and downloading missing pk3s

This, turn put sv_pure 0 transfer the map you want on a usb stick to the other computer - solved. Or run a mod and then sv_pure 1
You can also test maps by hosting it on your computer and playing it on the same computer. It’s less hassle. You can even install W:ET twice, once with you mapping installation and then connect from a fresh installation.

If etdo_b6 is downloaded, there’s a reason, so it is present on server at least, and it is because of one (or both) thing(s) it is downloaded by the client ^^’

If you don’t want to remove etdo_b6, the sv_pure 0 cvar is enough, as said several times…

(BMW) #8

Well, if i remove etdo_b6, it works fine. But I don’t want it to think it needs that pk3… i definitely did not use textures from that map.

I had heaps of maps on the server, and for some reason, this particular map was downloaded…

what does sv_pure 0 actually do?

yes it does have a campaign… i guess that is the problem

(Mateos) #10

Inside the etdo_b6.pk3, open up the scripts subfolder, and see the etdo.campaign: with sv_pure on 1, this makes the whole pack auto-downloaded by client so they have the same config files as the server. So, with sv_pure on 0, no auto-download of that files.

Same for Cortex WHO, and few other maps…

Edit: Ah, the time to eat x)

ok thanks… so the problem is not with my map

hope you enjoyed your meal
