[MAP] (Bramburg)- Dam Revenge - Released

This is a conversion of Bramburg Dam (mp_dam) designed and released by Splashdamage for Return to Castle Wolfenstein. It is based on the corresponding map ‘dam’ which was part of RTCW 1.0 single player campaign. All credits go to the developers at Splashdamage who designed this great map for RTCW, so in no way you are allowed to make money with it.

This is a map conversion.

Dam Revenge

Allied - “Prevent the Axis forces to destroy the Dam and Steal The Important Documents.”
Axis - “Steal The Tank to Gain access to the Allied Dam and Steal The Important Documents.”
Neutral - “Axis forces are attempting to re-capture the Bramburg Dam . Axis forces have to make there way through the Allied Defences, blow up the main doors and repair the Generator and Escape with the Documents, Allies must prevent this from happening!”

Few notes:

Yes, this map is dark. So was mp_dam.

Changes:

  • mapscript & several entities related to spawning reworked to fit ET needs.
  • timelimit 30 min.
  • objectives 8
  • some RTCW-only textures replaced by ET-textures
  • most RTCW-sounds replaced with comparable stock ET-sounds
  • most RTCW-models replaced with comparable stock ET-models
  • terrain re-textured
  • fix textures here and there
  • better terrain lightening/alpha- and phong-shading
  • better command map
  • fixed camerascript for the spotlights at the dam towers. They do some
    weired movements at mapstart. :stuck_out_tongue:
  • added Rain ,Thunder & Fog

Hi all,

We will never thank enough the mappers as you who work hard for keeping our favourite game alive !!

Great idea to have made it in axis attack !!

But i guess it is a beta , i say that for several reasons…

1. The map can be easily lighted , i mean there are any useless textures and some double into and when u see her size (almost 37 Mo)…

2. A part is useless too…as well maybe the robot or it is only for fun or all that will be used in the next release :slight_smile:

** I specify that these screenshots have been took without our HD textures !! **

3. Any textures have a ugly display…i think about “cm_pipes” and the american flag…

I hope you will understand that all this little feedback is for this great map has a great success !!

For my part , the problems about textures are easy to fix , in fact i say it for helping for all have a map lighter and clean :slight_smile:

Again thanks for all your hard work since any years !!

I May work on a final Verson We see how it gets on :cool:

This is manly the sound files as there is no Axis attack sounds in the normal stock maps for The Truck and Tank also others.

The Dalek (robot as you call it) is there as a bit of Fun / Eye candy as I am Tardis from Doctor Who so is the Dalek :wink:

Hi, nice map so far. I noticed the following:

  • warning: music file sound/world/rain_hard.wav is not 22k stereo
  • bots have problem with the elevator switch (causing errors)
  • you can go up over the hill onto the roof of the dam building and camp over the allies spawn (this might be bad because of spawn kill)

The Bot’s are and always a work in progress

Like most Maps you do get a - warning: music file sound/world/rain_hard.wav is not 22k stereo
Strage as this sound was from Radar :frowning: Will look in to that … :rolleyes:

This is not a major problem as the Allies have 3 ways out there Spawn

As expected , i have lighten your map (about textures + models + sounds)…

Anyway i have the habit to do it because i always do it for each map on my server (and often for an amazing gain of size) but i count on you for checking my little job.

Before your map had a size about 37 Mo and now it has a size about…21 Mo.

The main gain of size has been in the textures + models (about 14/15 Mo).

And after for finishing i have put my nose in the sounds…

I have done my best with my bit of skills and i hope that it will be usefull for you too.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to CS_kOoL again.

It is defantly a smaller size in MB and I do thank you for the help, I do ask if you can you give me list of the files that you have changed so I can work on this for a Final Version.

As for the lightness of the map it is ment to be quite dark due to the ambience of the map just like Radar.
I am personaly not happy with the waterfall shader just can not get that quite right :frowning:
also cant not seam to get the alpha right for the cm_pipes.tga
also need to tweek caulk to texture .

I am now waiting on other comments / tweeks I need to do before I start on a final verson.

WinMerge also does a nice job comparing files and folders :slight_smile:

I also use FreeFileSync for folders

Btw it’s id who did these maps, not SD ^^’ SD worked on ET, not RtCW

[B]@ Tardis I have changed nothing , as i said previously i have only lighten your map , in fact into there were 16 Mo of useless textures and sounds too…

You can test it , there is none missing texture…

If no for fixing the textures who have a bad display it is easy to fix for me then i guess that for you it is fast and easy to fix too !!

You see if you want to use your map lighten but for my part i will :slight_smile:

Use the same WP , i have only lighten it , i have only removed the useless textures + models + sounds for a gain of size no negligible (in fact 16 Mo less than the original size).

In fact if it has happened to you then it comes from your server miss…i mean that i suggest to you:

To run only this map on your server and to run only the official files of your mod and there will be none missing texture :slight_smile:

nope it happened on other server when testing the map and remember when u played with us u said was missing textures for the map graverob , then was only for you
prolly u have somes pk3 in your ET mods folder who interfere with some maps
