Male vs Female models

(El3lanco) #1

If this has been posted before then never mind.
If not then, why are people bugging about a lack of female characters. Have you not seen how freaky looking the guys look? Their face and body types? Yea females would be cool but what if they look like the guys. I mean think about it. If the guys look like that then here is my question.

Seeing as how we all know what the male characters look like(face and body wise).

What do you think female models would look like?
I for one think they’ll look like anything from skinny E.T.s to muscle bound Helgas.

(JZender) #2

I dont think there is any confirmation on female characters.

(tokamak) #3

I haven’t kept track but I think this is thread #6 on this subject. Not completely your fault so don’t worry. There has been lots of discussion about this and developers gave their views a couple of times as well. You might want to use the search and look at what they all had to say.

Welcome to the forums!

(spazski) #4

I don’t think we need a separate thread for this, but I’ll bite.

The problem with female models in video games is that they are either too blatantly sexual (huge chest, curvy body) which doesn’t fit in with Brink at all, in my opinion, or they’re far too manly and more time could have been spent making more male customizations than to make a manly woman and waste the memory space.

Women will not be in Brink, it has been confirmed by devs, end of discussion as far as I’m concerned.

(WolfieboyMachi) #5

Well seeing as there is an option for character custom. I don’t think that’ll be a problem.
If it’s advanced enough (like in say, Saints Row 2) you’ll be able to create any kind of female character.

I definetly think female characters should be included.

(INF3RN0) #6

SD should release anything they worked on female wise with the SDK. A lot of games with female body types wait until the game is successful to work on a DLC where female bodies are included. Most gamers are man peoples anyways, though I know quite a few people who always pick the female body type for some strange reason…

Has also already been discussed by devs.

Why wouldnt they fit? did you see one “bad looking” guy on brink? I mean a fatty or a nerd with googles? they are all like survivor’s ken, some “normal” breasted chicks with this artwork can definitly kick ass, they dont have to be copied/pasted from the usual babes we see in videogames.

On another point I think your assumption is also false cuz from the dev’s words they want deep atmosphere and stuff like a living city… did you see one entire city without chicks ever???

So yeah I know its harder work and new models etc etc, but that the only cons, all other stuffs are feasible and add depth to the game.

peace

Here’s the forum thread that shows what some other games have done…
http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20318

(Shiv) #10

Are there multiple characters in a battlefield style arena?
no

are they customizable?
no

Have splashdamage already told us their reasons?
yes, they made a choice of taking the more male customisation over lacking customisation for both (it would be far less than cutting the males customisation in half, you have to develop the females stuff as well)
Maybe it could have been women only…

Is this yet another stupid thread that could have simply been yet another post in one of the other threads?
yes

(Apples) #11

Why do you bother answering to it if its stupid? it keeps me amazed…

(.Chris.) #12

We both know the reason.

(SockDog) #13

SD have said there are female NPCs in the game narratives. So I guess we’ll see what they look like in this art style at least. Have to say I’m intrigued.

(El3lanco) #14

OK i don’t think people are getting what i’m saying. Yea i know that the game wont have any female Characters. Yes i know the reason that SD has stated.
What I’m asking is that with Brink art style what to you think that women would look like.

spazski got what i was saying. I wanna know what you guys think they would look like. Post a sketch of your own or describe in detail would you think they would look like. And if a thread like this( not one asking or wondering why there are no female models in the game) exist then i apologize for repeating.

Thank you tokamak for the welcoming

(El3lanco) #15

see that what i mean. I have heard the same thing. With that being said. what do you guys thing they will look like?

Personally who cares about extra customization for guys, if they are concerned about disc space then they have 2 options. Release the game on 2 discs or release free Day 1 DLC with more customization options. Bingo, problem solved. I’d rather see splash damage not be sexist against girl gamers rather than having more male customization. My girlfriend is already pissed about it.:stroggtapir::armadillochase:

(tokamak) #17

It’s not disc space, it’s development resources. Ah bloody hell, I’m just going to ignore the whole thing altogether.

(El3lanco) #18

Has anyone read my 1st post? What i want to know is what you think the female models will look like? I know there are no PLAYABLE females and why. But BUT SD did say that there WILL be female NPCs soooooooooooo…

WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY WILL LOOK LIKE?

Brink has a nice style to it but we only know what men look like . i wanna know what the women of brink would look like. Hell what would any animals look like?

ONCE again we all know that there will be no playable female characters. And we all know the reason(s) why.

(SockDog) #19

Thread is about how you think the art style of the game would affect the appearance of female models in the game. As it seems to have been confirmed there ARE female NPCs in the game it’s a perfectly valid topic for discussion.

(Stroggafier) #20

Not only is this a valid topic, it is sooooo valid that the whole discussion of male-female roles, looks, stylization, morale, social impact and any other related arguements could comprise its own thread section.

…even though one or more moderators and many fanbois would like to shut it down

So, Honey, let the dialogue role!
