Ive been sitting in these forums for days asking questions and getting replies from people that make me feel stupid because i dont understand what a script is or where to put mapcoords or what mapcoords are
sorry guys i must be stupid … BUT thanks to Hummer telling us idiots in laymen terms how to get into the game (now i can run around in my little box weeeee…) :expressionless:
i only wish that there were more people out there like you
now (heh) textures… why do i got boxes that say shader image missing… :weird:

cvar_update: Handle out of range

okay, so i did the little box tutorial thing, and now i get this error when i ’
/devmap map’ is executed…any ideas? :banghead:

Got a little problem:
I did just like you said and I can load my own map, but when I push the “L” button to go into the limbo menu to join a side and walk around, the game just stops responding.
Can that be because the spawnpoint are higher then the floor?
Or something else?

If it’s freezing then you proly have a problem with the mapcoords max and min, that happened to me at first. You don’t need a team_wolf_objective to run around in a map.

hmm got s problem. i have followed the tutorial and i made my box. when i tryed to load it in et it says couldn’t find map boxmap.bsp. i’m not sure what the problem is here. i have followed the instructions to compile it also. when it finishes it says in red map leaked. is that a problem? :banghead:

As far as I recall it was the same map. I did not modify the mapcoords at all. As soon as I added the team_wolf_objectives it stopped freezing.

Go figure.

yes, leaked maps is a problem, causing it to not compile

the leaks are identified by red lines, its basically when there is a gap in the map that leads to the ‘outside’ of it…move the edges closer together or whatever it takes to fix it, then recompile, and your map should now be a bsp so you can run it

hmmm there are no red lines :s the only thing in red is the red team spawn point but i think its meant to be

any ideas now? i have re done it also. and if i made a box all in one go how can it not all be joined together? :bored:

i have the same problem, now i can’t even host a game anymore, my game freezes, is that because one of those settings like : /sv_pure 0, etc. ??? :???: :???: i really don’t know what to do
i would love to test it, but if i keep getting that error, i never can make a map :bored: WHAT TO DO ??? :(:(:frowning:

Remember the coords have to make up a perfect square, and also you need to leave a gap of about 64 at the edges of your map. If you already done that then I have no idea sorry.

my game freezes when i press the HOST GAME button, not the L of the Limbo Menu
and if i press
/devmap “mapname”
then i get that Cvar error :weird:

for all the noobs stuck on mapcoords, this aint to clear in radient (or on my res it aint) but the mapcoordsmins should start with a - Example : -2470 2470
And mapcoordsmaxs 2470 -2470, noone told me about the - which is something very easy to overlook, took me around 3-4 hrs to notice it :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been making maps for around 3 weeks now, and I’ve had my maps running so at least I can answer the limbo problem. When setting the mapcoords, make sure you set those with a 64 wide border around you’re real mapsides. Should work now, so it’s as ziege said. I’m not sure about the “-” btw. Worked without too, just depends on where you’re map’s positioned.

And I happen to have the same problem now with the cvar_update. Always used to work, just stopped one day… I know it has something to do with cheating, but I never changed anything! :???: I’m a clanmember, and we don’t cheat!

i think u downloaded something from a ET server by accident that is messing up ur ET

And is there anyway to get rid of it, except reinstalling ET?
I found some info on it, and I think it’s somewhere inside my files indeed. I’ve checked my config file (renamed it temperately), and it still gives the same error. I’ll keep searching. Help’s greatly appreciated.

Ok, I deleted a few files and found it working again. One of those files must have contained something for it to happen… Anyway, problem’s solved now. :smiley:

When I try to compile my map with:
(test)BSP -meta -vis -light -fast -filter
before the compiling was completed I receive this message:

ERROR
MAX_MAP_VISIBILITY exceeded

When I try to compile with -light -fast I receive this message:

ERROR
MAX_TW_VERTS (12) exceeded

PLZ HELP ME :banghead: :frowning: :angry:
