making a whole in a cylinder

(Lock Ness Monster) #1

how do u gut a whole in a cylinder, i looked in the manual thing, but i didnt see what im hunting for, and i saw something in here about CSG subtracts, but those dont work on patches, so how do u make a hole in the side of a cylinder?

i know i was typing fast and i seen my mistake lol, i mean hole not whole lol

you cant cut holes in patches as far as i know

so how exactly would u make a cylinder shaped thing with a hole for a door in it, i need one for a gun turrent

EDIT: also is there a way where u can make a “gun turrent” ( just brushes that make one anyway) see i want to make a gun turrent that u can get up in and control, is there anyway to make it where it can rotate at ur will like how a MG42 can, i literally want to make it where u grab on to it like an MG42 but i want it to fire panzers instead, is that possible?

Hi,

I would do it likes this, you make a brush, you go to ‘Brush’ => Arbitrary Sided and you choose the number of sides, then you hollow that brush and then you can make a door in it using CSG Subtract. It’s not possible with patches I think

How about this: make a cylinder via brush/arbitrary sided, then, make another brush, which is smaller, and put that one in middle of that bigger cylinder. Now, keep that middle one selected, and use Selection/CSG/CSG Substract. Then press backspace. There, it’s done, now you have a cylinder. If you want it to be complete, without the millions of brushes, then just use Selection/CSG/CSG Merge, and you will have 1 brush.

Just take a look at the last post of the following thread at level-designer.de (unfortunately in german):

There’s also a map to download.
