making a texture , yourself

(Mère) #1

I have much problems making a texture myself.
Whatever I do, I won’t work…

Will somebody explain how to do this , from step 1 till the end?
This will be very helpful.

I know I already started a topic , but I didn’t get any response.
There are others having the same problem like me , so please help me with it.
My map is almost finished , and there are still no textures in it.

Thx

U mean u dont have any custom textures i presume in ur map

Ok here is what u do.
When u made ur own textures, place them in a folder in ur textures folder in the etmain folder, so u get etmain/textures/mymap
Then u open the shaderlist.txt file, which u can find in the scripts folder, and add at the bottom mymap

Then u restart radiant and then u will find ur texture folder between the other textures under the textures bit.

Hope this helps.

nope , didn’t work

I’m desperate.
I will install the game and radiant on another computer , and try it there

Did you save as 24-bit TGA?

Also I have some textures that wouldn’t display in game (Orange Grid of Death) although they worked fine in the editor, I could only fix it by resizing them to be perfectly square and renaming them. Very weird.

(Might help if you say what the exact problem is BTW)

The problem is :

I’m making a map of my house, and to make it realistic I took pictures of my house (like doors, carpets, floor , bricks,…).
I’ve edited my shaderlist , created a new *.shader.
The textures work fine in the editor , but once compiled, none show up…

All textures have to be certain dimensions to work with ET. Textures must be in multiples of 2, like for example 128 x 128, 96 x 64, 192 x 128.

hehe, djbob will be pleased with this new description!

Powers of 2 sock, powers of 2…

i.e. 96 and 192 are not valid
