Which is why there’s no SDK yet ? Wake me up when a SDK for Brink appears.
make all future dlc free
You call that work?
Oh dear.
tell me after you go to school for 4 years just to make games and after which yous spend probably about 2 years of getting 2 hours of sleep or less after endless programming and testing then everyone telling you your product totally sucks and you should give it away.
VERY ignorant
They could all give each other time consuming enemas, using their excrement to paint the mona lisa - I still wouldnt call that work.
Yeah because Valve isn’t more profitable per employee than Apple, right?

I like Brink and I truly respect and appreciate their efforts, but I have to admit, that the reality of actually playing the final product differs noticeable from my previous expectations. But the screens from the new dlc seem to be more torwards my former expectations.
But(a big BUT) your arguementation about their workload isn’t an excuse or an explanation for something. Moviemakers, comicbook artists and other game developers are also working under horrible pressure and not much sleep, but its the final product that counts. Sorry, its hard cause I can’t even imagine the amount of work they put into Brink, but that doesn’t keep the game from being judged. It mustn’t, cause everyone in the entertainment industry is working on the brink(pun intended).
And there are games out there wich are even far better than one dares to imagine. Three words “Mass-Effect-series”. I’d bet those guys weren’t on vacation for a while either.
But I’ll stay with Brink till the last server shuts down and I hope it will be a growing and continuing ip and this won’t happen for a long time, like “CS-long-time”.
I don’t know if you guys here know about an F-16 Sim called Falcon 4.0. Its from '98. This Sim ruined the developer and someone released the source code. Shortly after that the community started to enhance and mod the rather unfinished product. And guess what, it grew to the most realistic fighter flight sim you can buy and it is played to this day from thousands of fighter sim enthusiasts.
I’m pretty sure SD isn’t nearly on the edge of ruin, but they surely got some problems after release. And I hope for them and us, that the new dlc will make all the release difficulties for them and us customers forgotten.

Fool me once…
You’re getting a free DLC. They’re giving you a free DLC. What is the problem? Are you really this much of an asshole because you’re championing for nameless gamer’s rights to not have to pay $9.99?
Eat your cookie little baby
Go download ET… gl getting all the free maps. Buy Quake 3 or UT… once again good luck getting all the free maps. The funny thing is the best work comes from those that do it as a hobby and out of passion not to meet a deadline. Even those that are passionate but restrained by guidelines and deadlines are unable to churn out stuff and tweak it like the community does.
Believe me you may not know it yet but you would rather the community make the maps over the developers.
If you didn’t catch what I’m saying us old school pc gamers are use to getting this content for free and are more than willing to do the work for it. That’s why MW3 will mostly fail on pc… pay to play access to DLC instead of buying packs… that’s taking a bad idea and making it worse

This “us pc gamers” elitist attitude **** has to go. I was playing pc games probably before half this forum was out of elementary school. We are getting a free DLC, so I don’t get where this attitude about DLCs you have to pay for is coming from…WE’RE GETTING THIS FOR FREE!
I was a harsh critic of Brink in its current state, but when you buy a game that was rushed out the door, what’s the best that can happen? You usually just waste 60 bucks and go on to another game and the devs never look back either.
The devs are trying to improve the product and we have nothing to lose. So show some support for now and if you don’t like the DLC after it’s released fine, but do you want the game to succeed or don’t you? So zip it knucklehead, pre-emptive complaining is ridiculous.

I think that time has passed. Individuals may be able to create novel maps but they won’t ever come near the quality of what a team of talented individuals with a budget can do.
Maybe… But I am definitely speaking from a game play and balance perspective both of which budgets have no effect on.

It’s not an elitist attitude… I am an elitist but it doesn’t really apply to this. I’d appreciate at if your generalizations were stated as that and not in reference to me directly. I don’t care about getting FREE DLC I don’t care about DLC at all. I care about a balanced and playable game that allows us to build a competitive community on.

And SD is making that impossible by listening to the community and trying to improve upon their product? And they’re doing it before they release the SDK and have every server running some kind of different mod that only alienates the community. Brink is a new IP, it is way, way too early to have people start modding the game when the community does not really know the depth and scope of the game yet. You can argue with this, but no new IP is figured out in 2 months time ESPECIALLY in a competetive scene. If you honestly believe that’s false, take your “us old skool pc gamers” and shove it up your ass because you really don’t know what you’re talking about.
DLC should cost money. Nothing is free. If air could be sold, it too would be for sale. DLC requires work and most people expect to be paid for work, I know I do. Working for free pays no bills.
I like how people watch old youtube videos of Fatal1ty in early Quake 3 days or watch some Korean kids play StarCraft in their creepy glass booths and now every pc gamer is a “competetive” gamer that really knows that the competetive community needs. Consoles are for kids right? You guys play video games competetively
if you guys charge for dlc on a game that only has 700 players at a peak time then that will only make the game even worse
btw please fix the fps cap in sp so I can do those challenges
greedy filthy money grubber.
If we have to pay to play on new maps then we might as well declare the game dead. I will not pay for maps out of principle because I believe paid for DLC’s that are required for certain maps divide and fragment the community. Its not what happens now its what happens in 3 months time when new people pick up the game and can’t play on the same maps.
If it is true that this is going to happen then SD/Beth didn’t just shoot themselves in the foot they just went ahead and held the gun to their head and blew their brains out.
Falcon being “most realistic”?
Puhleeeaze, aside from avionics mind**** it`s really sketchy in realism department.
Go play Lock On.
