MAJOR Spectating bugs (Version 23549 - September 2013)

(Seanza) #1

Joining spec before the match starts:
If you join the server and select spectator as your team, you spawn as a player but in ghost format (ie. dead player skin). You can kill everybody as you are essentially a 3rd team.

When you are killed, you do not respawn. You cannot select a class by pressing the F keys and you cannot chat.

Joining spec after a match starts:
You cannot spectate in first person
You cannot use sprint to make the camera move faster
Some players show up as ghost skins

Hi Seanza,

Thanks for the feedback. I will get on the bug asap.

With regards to spectating, the controls have changed. I will put this in a guide, but for now, here are the new binds:

1-8 = Spectate attackers (slots displayed in UI)
ALT + 1-8 = Spectate defenders (slots displayed in UI)
F = Free Cam
SPACE = Raise Camera
LEFT CONTROL = Lower Camera
LMB = Spectate Next Player
RMB = Spectate Previous Player
MOUSEWHEEL = Control Free Cam Speed
X = Slowest Cam Speed
LEFT SHIFT = Fastest Cam Speed
MMB = Spectate player in crosshair

Are these hard binds or just the defaults? If I have rebound the functions normally linked to these keys, does that rebind the spectating controls as well? For instance, if I have Jump bound to another key than Space, will Raise Camera be on that key or I’d still need to use Space?

That how this ghost looks.

Hi Djiesse,

These are just the defaults. Unfortunately, we have not yet implemented the UI for rebinding spectator controls, however it is possible with some manual .INI file editing. Assuming you are familiar with editing your ‘ShooterInput.ini’ file, look for the following section:

[ShooterGame.SGPlayerInputSpectator]

After that section header, it should be fairly obvious how to rebind the keys manually.

Thanks a lot! I re-posted the info in the Spectator Controls thread.

Just to let you know, the binds weren’t working for me before but I can’t replicate it again. I’ll post if any problems again.

(Seanza) #8

Another bug:

Can free-cam when incap’d!

(mazesc) #9

So is this the spectator mode bug thread? A minor thing I noticed is that I can’t ready up while spectating.

I believe this is due to the blue player issue. Essentially you are in the wrong state meaning the input doesnt work.

Thanks for the bug. I will fix this asap too :slight_smile:

(Seanza) #11

This was after I quit the game, I was playing for a bit then decided to check the binds in spec again so switched to spec. Will hopefully be able to replicate intentionally in order to help you guys fix this.

(Seanza) #12

So I’ve just joined a server and selected to spawn as a spec. The game had already started on Whitechapel. The binds are the same as my in-game controls when I’m playing, so they haven’t gone to default like they should for spectator. I am also noclipping through everything and I can’t cycle through players.
