Major FPS drop after instaling the Fine Tuning Update (27.01.2016)

Hi!
Like in subject, i got a major FPS drop since the new update. Before that my framerate was between 90-60 on minimum settings (mabe 50 in some moments). Now its like 50 FPS max (also on minimum), but only in spawn area. Usualy i got the 25-40 FPS (which makes game unplayable). I tried literally everything (updating video driver, changing the confing file, setting the game on high priority in task menager, closing everything in backgroud). Also i tryed some config files recommended by other players, but someone told me that they dont work like they used to so it didnt help too. It seems like the new update maked the minimim system requiremets higher (the lights look now nicer, but its too much for my PC). I sended support request but i still got no reply, i posted about this in some forums, but no one know what may help. Im literally depresed about that… First u show me the best first person shooter since Enemy Terrytory and everything works great, and now since the update u telling me that i have to quit? (i can’t afford hardware update) Is there anyone who can help me, or just convince me that i have no hope, and i should just leave it and accept my PC failure? Is there any hope?

Hey there.

Dirty Bomb is pretty processor demanding.
Your 4 GB ram isn’t a lot either considering that’s the minimum for it to run.

You are right, the old configs which made the game look like potato were restricted a while ago.
The only real difference I noticed is what you described - the sun (and thus all the extra light) can’t be turned off anymore.

What you definitely want to check out is if ThreadSync is on.
In case you don’t know what that is:

“This means that keyboard/mouse inputs may not be reflected until the next frame to be rendered. It can help produce a smoother/higher framerate, but may feel slightly less responsive to input. Turn it off if you want your mouse/keyboard inputs to be processed immediately.”

Now since there is a lot of confusion going on I suggest you having a look at it directly in the config file located in

Documents -> My Games -> UnrealEngine3 -> ShooterGame -> Config

Now open the ShooterEngine data and search for OneFrameThreadLag

Replace the false with true if not already done so.
You could disable VSync as well.

Remember to save if you have made changes.

Also, I heard the configs of sick6 and Typo work but I’m not sure how far they will increase your fps.

I hope I was able to help you and wish you good luck!

I downloaded a config witch makes my game 45-70 fps, its more playalbe now. I hope that new update will bring back the option to turn off “the sun”
thanx for your tips

Great news!
I don’t think you’ll be able to disable it anymore, it’s listed as a bug fix in the patch notes.

“Fixed bug where turning off Dynamic Lights would disable the sun”
