I think the machine gun’s firerate for the fragger and maybe anyone else that uses the machine gun should be a bit higher… and the burst-fire rifle should be a bit nerfed, not much since it’s burst fire and all. But this is just my opinion… what do you other guys think?
Machine Gun and Burst-Fire rifle damage
I disagree with the burst-fire on rifles being nerf it is fine where it is as it was nerfed already. As for fraggers mg yeah I don’t use him I wouldn’t know.
Well i was playing for short but i was battling with an full auto rifle battle against burst-fire, and somehow burst-fire got me alot faster than i did with him, he had like 60% of health and it kind of really pissed me off
EDIT- and i am not saying alot, just a tiny bit more
Burst-fire is accurate as long as you’re not spamming the fire button. I recommend when you get a chance to try a burst-fire weapon. You see that you will miss a lot if you spam your bursts. However time your shots and aim for the head and the burst-fire kills really fast. The problem of course is most people spam their shots as quickly as possible. This also applies to Arty main default rifle, people spam the thing when it is designed for headshots.
If you want a nerf though I am fine with a small adjustment in damage. Just don’t touch the delay between bursts.
@APRenpsy I was scoping in as well, but I still lost somehow and he survived with 60 hp, it either may have been the somewhat bad hit-detection that i have been noticing recently (I kill them and their dead body kills me)
@cosmopolitanSponge Eh I wouldn’t be surprised it is closed beta after all. There been times where I die with the enemy having 1% left, usually I just blame my aim.
Fragger’s LMG is fine where it is. The M4 and the BR are much more accurate. If you’re out of hosing range the LMG wont be a threat
Fragger’s LMG is really good. The only weakness it has is when a much faster class starts strafing in front of you. It can be harder to hit them but it’s not hard enough to warrant any kind of change because you can effectively mow down a whole room of them pretty quickly if they aren’t directly engaging you with strafes and wall jumps.
The BR is a very high skill curve weapon.
It’s stats look great on paper - usually like a straight upgrade from fully auto weapons with the same stats but higher firerate. This is why many people feel it is over powered.
But many people don’t realize that the weapon is very unforgiving. It’s fire rate is higher per bullet but because you fire in bursts your effective fire rate is much lower. Therefore it is only useful in the hands of an accurate player.
If you hit your shots on target it is a straight upgrade from a semi auto. You will kill your opponents much faster and consistently than a semi auto. However if you miss a burst or two that’s when the weapon starts to punish you.
Many competitive players tend to stick to automatics for that reason - the punishment for missing a burst is very high. However if you manage to land your bullets you will be much deadlier than anyone with a normal gun.
For practice I recommend instagib servers on UT or Quake servers with the rail/shock rifle
Both weapons need major recoil reworks (as in more). Burst rifles simply need more uniquely defined mechanics- low recoil, ultra accurate, plenty of ammo? Why am I still using the m4…
@INF3RN0 miss more than 1 burst and you’re a gonner. It doesnt have that much ammo anyway
Also generally you only feel weapon recoil when you ads, otherwise its usually negligible unless its really heavy

Well, I was making the argument in terms of consistency in aiming. There’s enough ammo to wipe a whole team without having to reload assuming your landing all your headshots. I don’t find it difficult enough to maintain aim with the burst rifle compared to the m4 for example, when I believe the benefit clearly warrants some extra skill mechanic. There was a lot of discussion in the private forums, but some of the ideas I liked was having a significant kick between bursts that would require you to re-position your aim or having progressive vertical recoil during each burst (assuming other values would be modified accordingly). As it currently stands, there’s little difference between 3 rapid fire bullets and 1 high damage bullet.
Lol trust me, the fire rates are very fine where they are. Just trust me haha.
For me Fraggers LMG is fine as well, but he can’t carry much ammo for it. I think the max is 50 in the gun and 125 in reserve. He can tear through that very quickly, which means he has to constantly be going back to Ammo Crates or hope his team mates actually drop ammo (which not as common as one would hope)
In the end it’s a less accurate, high mag size, low spare ammo capacity, full auto rifle.
Try playing Fragger with an M4 and then tell me about how much ammo he needs. The M4 requires other players to make ammo rain on you to stay in the game compared to the LMG.
