Wait… People actually give a damn about comp mode?
On a more serious note, go play Stopwatch mode instead, comp is just a glorified match of that with absurd load times.

It use to be absurd load times, however it has gotten much better. In a party of 5 you can expect to find games within 3-4minutes of waiting. This is ofcourse, playing in prime EU peak times.
I don’t know how the NA region MM is, but EU you are always able to find quick games lately.
I’d only say MM should be lower if everyone was funneled into MM ala CS or DotA (or any game that markets itself competitively y’know). But right now, they’re not, MM is dead, and pubs are the only thing that happen.
i would increase it to 15/20lvl so we wont have noobs
I would increase it to 10. Idk how much time you need to reach this level, but it should be enough for anyone to learn the game mechanics.
Imagine a situation where you, for some reason, advertise this game to your friends and the game forces them to get 180k xp from lvl 6 to 7 alone + all the xp needed for the previous ranks. For a player who would like to play competitive and try it out that way, with friends, it means hours upon hours of tedious public farming for no apparent reason.
At least you could make it so that players who get INVITED to a team, could play competitive regardless of their lvl and lower the lvl cap back to 5 for the search. Current cap serves no one. If you are dumb as fuck and cant do shit like shoot and move at the same time, you wont be more useful on lvl 7 than on lvl 5 anyway, but if you have played tf2/et/anything that has something to do with shooting, on a competitive level, you propably don’t want to spend ANY time on public servers.
It’s like putting someone to a retard class in school for two weeks, just because you want to change school.
So it would be deader than it already is? This a f2p game where the vast majority of its players never see level 20 before getting bored, uninstalling it, and moving on to the next game.
Fact 1. Comp is undercrowded.
Fact 2. A guy who has played Enemy Territory maps Oasis (Terminal) or Goldrush (Bridge) and who also has a voice access and has been forced to play 5 lvl:s (shouldn’t take more than 5 matches for an experienced fps player to get on sync with movement and at least one useful weapon) on public servers is about 2000% more useful than a random lvl 10 sniper who just presses the join comp button and who has no intrest using the voice and can not be controlled or used as a part of a team.
Fact 3. It’s called COMPETITIVE or as people like to shorten it: comp. It’s not supposed to be 5 randoms vs 5 randoms. Or is it? I don’t know. That’s what they try to make it to be with these half-witted decisions like adding lvl-requirements. Wouldn’t that be basically… public with ranks?
Minority vs Majority.
The system won’t be changed just because there is one good newcomer once in a while among 100 bad newcomers.
Btw, if you get so much butthurt about playing the game for a few more hours to receive a proper level, you clrealy don’t like it, so why you insist on getting to ranked asap? To troll? Perhaps.
The thing is, we are waiting for competitive mode to be decently polished. Until then, a lot of players will stay away from comp. Level cap isn’t the real problem.
Well, inspired by this thread, I made a smurf, to see how long it actually takes to get to level 7.
http://puu.sh/mvVuJ/9a47c80962.jpg
Not very long at all, even if you get really awful teams like I was getting.
That’s actually longer than I was thinking it would take to get to 7. Still not very long but long enough to see most of the maps and each side and learn a couple mercs.
I think 4h30min is doable, if you go all speedrun mode and spam Skyhammer’s ammo packs a bit more, I just got bored of it.
inb4 people start competing at racing to level 7.
If people are so split on this, perhaps there should be different competitive tiers?
Each one with their own level requirement to enter.
I know that ranked match making is a pain in the ass right now though with huge wait times between games… so maybe if/when they are able to make it more popular again.
EDIT:
To be clear, each tier could have a level requirement you’d need to reach, and with that possible rewards for playing and winning.
There could also be a tier for when a higher level friend wants to queue with a lower level friend. (could still be limited to level 7 min or whatever though)
This way people expecting to play a truly competitive match can play the higher tier which only allows people who have really put in the time to enter.
If you jump in at a low level you probably don’t know the maps, and good aim or not you will get smoked by someone who does. Why be a liability to your team. If your aim is that good you shouldn’t have trouble getting 10k xp per round.
