lvl 20 play, does no one use those characters?
???
don´t get the point here.
i have just one character ( obvious lv 20 ) and play all the time with it.
That IS the point.

You may be satisfied with that, but can you see yourself still interested in your character in 6 months?

I’ve have 5 lvl 20 dual-spec’d characters for a while now, all of whom I play with. Just because you don’t “gain” XP after lvl 20, doesn’t mean the XP isn’t tracked on the stats site. That’s why I keep using them rather then starting a new one. I like seeing how my total XP stacks up to the rest of the PS3 player base (sitting on 1,230,902 as of today).

Dont forget some modes arent tracked. 5 level 20s means atleast 1,500,000xp not counting respecing abilities. I am almost done my two most recent guys so I will have 6 then but my xp and game time are lower then what I have actually done from doing alot of co-op campaign when the game first came out. Dont plan on making any new characters for a while so I like you will be Ridin 20’s (soon to be 24’s) for a good while. But I have 2 meds 2 heavies and 2 lights, plenty of variety for now and can change sizes if need be.

I know. The stat site only tracks versus freeplay data, public and private games. So any campaign XP you gained isn’t logged. If that were the case my total XP would probably be double the figures I posted…seeing as while PSN was down all we HAD was campaign. I’ve never respec’d any of my guys though. I’ve got 2 Soldier/Engi’s (medium & heavy), a medium Engi/medic, a medium medic/soilder and my main…a light Op/Soldier. So I’m pretty much covered for all roles depending on what I feel like playing as. Perhaps when the DLC comes out I’ll make a new character, but for now…I’m good with the 5 I have noe.

I got my first level 20 in two nights of play, ranted about that on the Beth forums. Its too easy for a start and secondly I hate the fact there is a level system. Personally I would have preferred never ending experience points and having to spend my XP in order to purchase abilties/appearances/weapons/attachments. I think it would have given the game more longevity.

At the moment I have 4 level 20 specialists and I am currently building up my lvl2 JOA but once these are done and I’ve played as much as I can play. I might go back to ET:QW for a while.

Same here with the offline before psn was up, and on two different systems I beat both sides of the story and a bunch of replay missions afterwards to see the entire maps. Right now I have Med Engie/Sol Med Sol/Medic Heavy Sol/Medic Heavy Engie/Medic Light Op/Medic Light Engie/Op. Have them all with offsetting abilities so I could experiment with them all and respeced a few times early on and when making new guys. May end up doing it again but feel like I have it right. Figuring out what to combine together between two different classes is a hassle, really have to experiment and find your play style for that role. Love the variety and choices though, want to try them all!!! I am about 100hours online now and still feel like I have much to learn…

It makes sense to have at least 4 characters, one for each of the classes so you can have all of the passive abilities for that class. In fact, I would argue that everyone should have a unique character for every class they play.

Personally, I have five level 20 characters, including a Soldier/Engineer/Operative combo (which I think of as my “objective” character). And I have one of each class fully-spec-ed.

Heh, I stopped being satisfied with my characters after a week.

The whole leveling system and limited skill point allocation in this game just doesn’t work well and isn’t satisfying. It just feels stupidly restrictive. I understand why they tried to impose this kind of class specification choices on players, but they just didn’t pull it off well.

Some classes it just isn’t really necessary. Not all of the universal abilities are useful to every one. So that spares you enough points to build a hybrid and still be just as effective. I’d argue that having a dedicated class is almost hindering now (or when the DLC comes out at least).

I have a dedicated Engineer and an Operative. I don’t need ALL of the class abilities to play the class effectively. After playing my dedicated Operative for a while, I made a new one… specced it Operative/Medic. I was very effective as an Operative and could still be a good Medic.

I just don’t see there being very many dedicated-class characters once the DLC drops. The spare points will have to go somewhere… might as well evaluate your current lineup and respec to be strong with two classes at least.

Why not just play in a playlist without rank restrictions? You can use your level 20 and the opponents can use whatever level character they want.
