LUA pk3 question

(ripthesystem) #1

I’ve PM’d gotenks but then I thought perhaps someone else could answer cause I’m thinking it’s probably obvious to everyone but me…

I’m actually wanting to try my hand at making some minor changes in the ETPower MOD. More to see if I can than anything else, I’m just wanting to break my teeth on something. I’m not totally familiar with LUA but I’ve been reading some and I looked over the LUA file in the PK3 and most of it seems straightforward. Granted, I was just looking at basic structure but still I might be able to do something. My initial question is that of how the PK3 is arranged or maybe the format of the LUA file? Actually I’m not sure what’s going on but maybe you could clear something up for me

If I take the: ETPower.pk3 I see that it’s 62.8kb
If I unzip it I get a Sound folder and ETPowerMod.lua

If I zip it back up(no changes, no opening files, etc) and name it the same (ETPower.pk3) my file is 62.7kb

I’m wondering why? If I swap out the repacked one for the original on the server, it won’t work at all which makes me think I’m obviously doing something wrong in the packing of the file. Ideas?

Thanks!

Did you read this http://wolfwiki.anime.net/index.php/Lua_Mod_API? There’s a link to a ETPro LUA tutorial

Aye, I’ve been reading that and generally understand the premises behind most of it. My current concern is why I can’t get the .lua to work in the PK3 like it usu does.

What are you using to repackage the files?
In case of WinRAR, check if the output file is a zip or a rar file. (Should be zip)

I already posted this over one etpro, but just for anyone who runs into it over here: etpro lua mods do not need to be in a .pk3
