[Low Performance] Problem with low fps on high end computer

(exquisiteJackal) #1

Hi SD

Game sometimes have huge performance problems and runs at 30fps or less constantly. Usually game runs above 100 fps on my computer but sometimes I get locked into this low fps mode. Nothing seems to help this except rebooting my computer.

I noticed that when I alt-tab out of game I gain my fps back, it runs smooth but as soon as I make games window active my fps goes down. On task manager my cpu, memory and hdd usage are low. I think that you are limiting game fps when we alt tab out of it and this logic is broken somewhere.
I think this problem starts when I alt-tab out of the game during map loading.

my specs: i5-2500k, 12gb ram, Nvidia 970, I also use g-sync 144hz monitor.
Thanks

I’m going to move this to tech support

Try playing in borderless window mode, if that doesn’t work there is also a program that helped me with this called “Borderless Gaming” so that alt-tabbing no longer drops my FPS.

It’s really odd though, especially with your CPU/GPU not being taxed when it happens.
I have no real educated answer here, but resetting your config may help (remove ShooterGame.ini from Your Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ShooterGame\Config and start the game again, it will make a new config).

And make sure to scan your system for Malware, just in case. The shift in window focus may be a hint.

you should be getting WELL over 100 anyway… i have an i5-3570k @ 4.2GHz and a GTX960 4GB and I run it at 120+. I would definitely reset your config file as mentioned above and make sure you don’t have V-Sync on.

I had the same problem and neither running the game borderless nor resetting my shootergame.ini config helped. What worked for me is turning off thread sync in advanced video options. It runs 120+ fps now
