Low GPU usage

(waxxan) #1

I have a 970 with 347.52 drivers. During DB gameplay I only get 40-60% GPU usage.
Any ideas? Other games uses 100% without any problem.

hmm… I am just gonna guess here but I think it’s probably cause it’s a closed beta and they forced lots of things down inside the settings, making lots of stuff automatic, you could probably tweak it for later and maybe that can fix it, there is a post about tweaking

game is more cpu involved

(cosmopolitanSponge) #4

damn… still think tweaking caaaaaan help

Well, I have a i7 running at 3,4ghz. And its using about 60% of 4 cores.
Thing is i have very ubstable fps. All on low and everything turned off, and im jumping between 40 and 160ish fps.

(Nail) #6

I would suggest there is something else using your bandwidth

(Meat) #7

Ahh did you check to see if vsync is enabled?

(Nail) #8

vsync wouldn’t allow 160

(waxxan) #9

I have a 120hz monitor and did try with vsync both on and off. Same issue. Had nothing else running in the background. Had 560ti SLI before, feels like no difference when i switched to the 970.

(Meat) #10

you definitely have a issue I have a I7 @3.6ghz, and a gtx760, I am running on high settings with post processing off, and vsync off. I get between 140-160 FPS on all maps.

my .cfg is all stock no changes to defaults. I am also using the default FOV.

what FOV are you using? the higher you go the lower your FPS is going to be.

(uberlag) #11

i have the same problem cant seem to force GPU usage

got it to work better with this FPS cfg from deddit:

hope it helps

Yea, I also use a FPS config for now. Too bad that its needed to get decent FPS though.
I think most people wont bother fiddling around with configs and stuff, they just want it to work ootb. Especially if its a free game. Personally I don’t mind the game look like sh*t, as loong as I get a decent ~100fps, im satisfied.
I don’t get how how the performance can be so bad on a 10 year old engine.
Unfortunately, this has been the case of both ETQW and Brink, but I still love those games
Its just harder to get my friends interested if the initial experience is “bad performance!”
