Low Framerate

Since I started playing DB I’ve been having a low frame rate throughout every game since day 1. For shooters I cannot play well if at all below 60 fps (it gives me a headache). I’ve tried a lot of things and used a guide as reference but I still can’t even pull 60+ fps. Here was the guide I used: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=454700366

I’m not the most tech savvy guy (learning still) but here’s my specs:
Using Windows 7 - 64 bit
AMD FX™-4170 Quad-Core Processor @ 4.2 GHz
32GB of Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti

I updated my graphics card 2 weeks ago but they released another so I guess I’ll try that. I’ve been playing on 1920x1080, which is my monitor’s resolution too. Also, I’m not running any other program.

I have all the settings on low. From the guide, I’m using sick6 newb’s config, set DB priority to High, and tried Game Booster. I also uninstalled and reinstalled DB.

I get below 50 fps every game, even if I’m by myself in my own spawn. Turning on One Frame Interval lets me hit 50-60 fps more consistently, but the worst part is the input lag and I can really feel it.

Anything else I can do?
Thanks.

Uhmmm lol who put that pc together?
-32 gb ram=overkill
-The amd processor is easily outdone by the i5-4460 boxed
-780 ti probably is worth more than the rest of the pc

Ps: it might be your processor.

Hm, that’s weird. While I agree that the CPU could be better I really don’t think it’s that bad, and it’s running at 4.2 as well. I really don’t think this is a hardware issue.

Try halving your resolution and seeing if it makes any difference to your fps. It shouldn’t, but this is a quick and dirty way to check for a GPU bottleneck.

Changed the resolution to 1280x720 and nothing changed. I thought that it’s probably processor related but we haven’t had much problems with it on other games we play (Then again our “newest” game was from ~2012). Iirc, the processor is still the same when we first attempted to make a gaming pc years ago. I thought I should ask around first instead of assuming it’s the cpu.

It’s a 2012 CPU, it’s not exactly ‘old’. It’s only half as good - based on bench mark - as the latest CPUs, but it really should be enough. Especially when over clocked. If you were struggling to get 100fps I’d say it sounds normal, but not even 60? Yeah…

All your main components seem good enough (32GB tho, please tell me you use that PC for something else but gaming), I would suspect either some bad settings somewhere, or some subpar hardware, somewhere else that bottlenecks your main components.

Other things when a map starts there is still alot of background loading going on, so don’t expect rock solid performance in the first minute.
Make sure you have the high performance energyprofile activated (easiest way to ensure everything is unparked).

And lastly use 1 frame interval. That inputlag is 1 frame if any. The more FPS you get through that option is offsetting the inputlag it might introduce.

So I tried 2 things. I (forgot to) put the config file into Read Only. Also, I set the game to fullscreen now. So now I can get 80 fps without too much problems.

I tried a new config I found on reddit. Unfortunately, I can’t break glass on Bridge, Underground, and Terminal; so I cannot call in Arty strikes. Is there a line somewhere in the config file that disables the breaking of glass?

For the glass on the last defending sector of Bridge, I can shoot them and run through them (but visually it’s still there). However on the first sector I cannot break the glass above the EV nor call in strikes even after I shot it.

Thanks.
