You promised long time ago on a reddit post that there will be a patch that gives a lowest video option since you decided to kill every config allowing low-end computers to play. It’s been over 2 months almost… where is this patch? Because right now it is unplayable for me and who else has a shitty computer.
Low-end computers
In the time I’ve been playing I have never heard of such an announcement, I am afraid
They actually did the exact opposite of this a couple of months ago, capping certain options in the options menu meaning they can’t be disabled, so that everyone was on a theoretical “level playing field”.
They also added a limit to the minimum texture resolution due to all the custom configurations lowering video settings to insane levels - making players easier to see. So I don’t think this is ever going to happen, nor be reversed.
The best thing I can suggest would be for you to look up some custom .ini configurations others have set up, or look for a guide on how to edit the .ini files for options that are not available in the options menu.
I’m afraid developers don’t always optimise for incredibly old hardware. They will optimise for commonly used set-ups and if you hardware is incredibly old or low spec, you may be out of luck I’m afraid
It’s simply the way PC game development is. A new release simply can’t expect to be ran properly on old or obsolete hardware.
@sensitiveJellyfish I have already everything set to lowest
@Faraleth I tried to search but I don’t think anyone made a config made for this…
actually SD did say they were going to introduce low end setting, not sure what happened, will ask directly
Yup. They had a giant thread that let the community identify all the changes that benefited your FPS and identified potential values that could be exploited or be viewed as exploitive. Then they locked down the exploit values and a few others and then proceeded to never introduce an ultra-low setting. And preferably one that turned off all of the maps and such along with it since CoherentUI is still a source of a lot of FPS drops most likely.
The thing is they can’t really do much more given that the game is running on DX9, a version of Direct X that’s not nearly as well optimized for older machines that the later versions are.
And to be honest, if your computer is having trouble running the game then it’d probably about time to upgrade.
Unless you’re AMD, in which case, there’s not much you can do until Zen comes out.
…or you can buy a 2nd gen core i5 and enjoy Zen performance today!
@discreetPiece - what’s in your rig?
True but some people might not wanna buy a new rig just to play Dirty Bomb.A mobo and a i5 is easily 300 or more assuming everything else is compatible.
Right now I can’t afford buying a new pc since I have a lot of priorities more important than this. I just want to play my game in my free time but seems it isn’t possible. Idk when Zen will come out
Ok OP lets be real. If you bought a $500+ pc in the last last 1-5 years, it should be able to run dirty bomb if you put it at the lowest setting.
However I do want to point out that ever since the new anti cheat ive been getting lower fps.
I’m running:
Intel Core i5-42000U CPU @ 1.60 GHz 2.30 GHz
6.00 GB’s of Ram
64 bit
Intel HD Graphics 4400 (This GPU type is considered the worst for gaming)
I turn down all my settings, and set my resoultion to 800x600 and Im able to play with 60-80 fps.
Seriously if your computer can’t run dirty bomb you need an upgrade.
I tested my 2011 model Sandy Bridge mobile i7 with a terrible Nvidia 550m and I run 90-125FPS consistent in DB @ 1080p. I switched it to use the Intel integrated video and I ran in between 70-95 at all times. Oh, and Windows 10.
So a 5 year old laptop that was only middle of the road at the time can run DB fairly well. I was using my FPS config though.
Actually all your points are true guys but there’s a problem. My HP Pavilion dv6-3103sl has 2 commutable graphic cards and actually those genius at HP never tought that there would be troubles updating the driver. In fact I can’t update my gpu driver from the ATI website and i’m stack with a 2011 old one(and yes I have the latest one available on the HP website). So actually thanks to this I can’t play dirty bomb with a decent framerate.
Well…do you have any money? Savings? Any other backup pc?
Tried playing at the lowest possible res?
The thing is just from looking at it, a) it’s a laptop, not a gaming computer, b) it has a processor from 2010, 5 year old architecture, and it has a max of 2.8 ghz, which is exactly what my old desktop used to have and I could not run Dirty Bomb at decent stable frames.
Your computer is simply not fit to run this game, you’re going to need to get a new computer man.
Even if Amerika can run it that’s with everything low on a low resolution, if your pc can not manage that, then you’re boned.
I know man… Actually a laptop was the only thing I did need time ago(for the school and holidays) and actually my economic situation doesn’t give me the possibility to buy a new one. Can I ask if Amerika’s config is the lowest one available?
It is. I can PM it to you and instructions if you like. It’s a 1080p config though so if you want a different resolution let me know and I can change it for you before I send if you don’t know how to.
Just send me it… I already used before the july patch some configs like Kroad’s one and Gustavo’s one. Thank you
I’ve had luck with hacking my screen rez to incredibly low values, Like 250x100. Usualy, if you can do it game runs great.
(Never tried it in DB though)
If you have enough money for it, I would recommend building a custom computer for real cheap $600-700 USD.
If you can afford it, it may be beneficial for alot of other games whilst giving you better performance on DB overall. I can even help compile a list of parts if you’d like.
