it is kind of jarring how many wonky balance issues there are. i say wonky because oddly enough they all have to do with under performing kit set ups instead of over performing.
issue number one: is the heavy body type really worth it?
the game says heavys can take more damage and they get bigger guns to offset their slowness but is this actually true?
ive used all the heavy weapons (not including the explosive ones) and aside from having bigger clips (not always true) they don’t actually perform better than any of the ar guns and most of the smgs. in fact most if not all the ar guns kill faster and use 1/5 the ammo to kill in cqb.
the first reason for why this happens is the way this game tackles sustained fire. after using the mini-gun for 5 shots its accuracy pretty much reaches its worst value possible. while this is true for nearly every weapon in the game it is particularity bad for heavy weapons.
correct me if i am wrong but wouldn’t you get a heavy weapon Specifically so that you can have sustained fire? it is completely counter intuitive to have to do 5 round bursts on a freaking mini gun. Because of this handi- cap, the only real advantage these heavy weapons had ( ie they last longer in a sustained fire fight) is removed by the fact that their damage potential is limited to the same level as the ars and smgs ( most cases lower because the accuracy of these weapons is at best half of the others).
in the current heavy machine guns are like neutered Ar guns with half the accuracy 3/4 - 1/4 the range and 3times the ammo consumption .
my second reason is that the heavy class has too many downsides and the bonuses don’t counter balance this . The game only mentions that the heavy is slower and cant do cool acrobatics, but what no one mentions is that the heavy is twice the size of the light build ( and that means twice as large a target) that means the heavy not only is slow and not nimble , but he also is by far the easiest to hit, and his damage resistance does not make up for it.
frankly i see no reason to use the heavy build over the medium or light.
Another balance issue i have seen is with the sniper rifles and the shot guns …
i wont butter this up, the shot guns are a joke even the big bad one cant kill people 3 feet in-front of it before its user dies.
As for the sniper rifles, the big one seems fine, but the second one is just plain awful.
the major problem i have with it is that its recoil does not match its damage. The gun cant kill in one shot to the head, and it cant kill with 2 body shots, yet each shot give off massive recoil making successive shots impractical to line up in their long or short ranges. in a game where the std AR rifle can kill at long range in under 9 shots , such massive recoil mechanics on semi auto rifle are unnecessary.
am i the only one who sees these things?
