Lost ideas of teamwork

(peteXnasty) #1

In a game that is supposed to reward teamwork over all, how on earth is it tha im a game where im the only soldier playing crowd control and passing out ammo, and then becoming the only medic to heal and revive, that a cocksucker on the other team who is throwing caution to the wind and running and gunning with his carb 9 not only outscores me, but wins best overall, and best engineer? When he didn’t build one turret…place one mine…or build one barricade on shipyard? When all he did was rush rush rush with his carb 9, which was obviously buffed with improved weapon buff (because the engineer is the favorite class of the kill frenzy idiots)?

I thought this game rewarded squads that stick together, but instead one jerk can jump in between us all and hold down the trigger on his bullet hose and slaughter 3-4 guys before we even have a chance to AIM at him? I thought suicidal lone wolfing was long gone?

Rework the SMG catagory. Rethink the drum mags or remove them from SMG’s as they are the breaking factor. And lastly maybe self weapon buff for engineers isn’t the best idea as it just encourages these retards to all pick engineers and rush spawns.

And yes, i’m mad. The basic ideas behind the very existence of this game go right out the window when faced with the combo that is SMG/drum mag/light body. The concept of the slayer in team battles should not exist in brink because that is all anyone wants to really play if given the chance.

This game rewards teamwork massively. You will never win a game against a skilled side unless you push together with a mix of classes.

If you are just talking about the scoreboard then i think that kills need to be rewarded far more than they are. You should get at least as many points as when buffing someone which takes no skill. Do you play to win or to be at the top of the scoreboard?

(peteXnasty) #3

You missed the point.

I was being the team player, this other dude was being the smg spazz

And according to the game he was the best player and the best engineer

When he did nothing but buff his gun and maybe buff people around him at spawn

He just charged into battle with his drum mag and would dominate the killfeed spraying bullets downrange. Wasn’t Brink designed to avoid rewarding these players? The post game matchup should have a catagory right above “most kills” called “NEXT TIME DO SOMETHING USEFUL” for the player who never once tries to accomplish an objective of any kind.
edit: for the record my team lost horribly due to this dude literally just jumping onto our groups and slaying before we could even get a bead on him. Hooray stopping power+70 round clip+0 recoil…great ideas

So why don’t you use the carb-9? Until it is patched all we can really do is fight spam with spam.

(peteXnasty) #5

That’s how games die.

I was housing the rest of his team paying a soldier like a soldier with all my munitions but I can’t slap a tube on a Galactic! I prefer the tampa with dual mags anyway. More fun to use.

lone wolfing isn’t an issue as long as the lone wolfer doesn’t have the improved weapon buff…

seriously, doesn’t even matter wich gun is being used, when someone is using the improved weapon buff and you and your 2pals aren’t, he’s gonna pwn all three of you before you take him down to half his health

Offering them shelter?

Please explain your point again though.

Honestly, I have yet to see a lonewolf score higher than me and my teammates. I dont see how he could kill that many players by himself, were you fighting all bots? That must’ve been the case because 1 person can rarely dominate the map in 5v5 competition mode.

Do the majority of your experiences end up like this? I have yet to get a competitive match where 1 lonewolf is the best…

If EVERYONE is being lonewold then i get how one is going to out shine the others but against a real group of teammates the lonewolf’s don’t stand a chance.

To be honest, throwing out weapon buffs is a good way of getting exp. It will be buffing your team and helping them out in the long run.
I always feel weak compared to someone with a weapon buff. I know it helps but 33% for T2 is alot of buffage and just murders people.
Otherwise your team needed an engi to hand out weapon buffs. Its mostly why i go engi so i can buff others and myself because some people just don’t do it.

Shipyard and Reactor are both horrible maps to attack on. Shipyard being the worst.

It’s very rewarding winning as an attacker in these maps though

On topic. CARB-9 should get nerfed a little. I agree that perhaps drummag should be removed, but the galactica looks so awesome with drummag/grip :stuck_out_tongue:

Had a chuckle at that.

I don’t like to say that, but if your team get slaughtered by 1 single guy, the issue is your team, not the game nor the guy
He’s overpowered with buffed weapons? Buff yours … 1 engie can do all your team, neat
It’s not like you were without any way to fight against him

And yes, XP rewards are not fair, you shouldn’t look this

(wolfnemesis75) #13

Ok, Sponge-Bob Angry Pants. Not the games fault you have a crapp-tastic time playing. The game is fun, not sure who you play with, but the average person I play with totally gets the concept of teamwork.

Should have joined the group i had goin when i invited you last night, lol we had a full team of mics and were winning almost every map. Lol i hear you on that though but just get with me next time, been adding mad Brink friends so always a few of us on with mics.

(peteXnasty) #16

I probably wasn’t home (was it that one game you joined? I left to use a point I got, then did this round in question and quit for the night, I passed out soon after)

And again my issue isn’t that we lost the round, its that someone playing the game like its MW2 scored higher than the entire game and was given props for being the best of his class when he did nothing that Brink is supposed to require of its players. Is this so hard to see?
