Looking for general advice

Hi everyone,

I’ve been playing FPS games (like Team Fortress 2, SOCOM, Counter-strike: Source, and CS:GO) most of my life, however since I have started playing Dirty Bomb I feel like I’ve never played a shooter in my life.

My score is usually between 700 - 4000 depending on the merc I pick (it would appear that some mercs are better on certain maps?), and I seem to get demolished everyone (I’m currently level 5). I’ve also found it really difficult to use burst rifles and the the Hollunds 880… which is really bothering me since I love playing support type roles.

What general tips can you give to players like myself to help us integrate into the game better? Any tips for playing Aura, Kira, Arty, and Proxy?

This is such an interesting game, but it sucks being absolutely destroyed in more than half the games I play. Perhaps I’m too solo focused and should rely on playing with a friend or organising better teamwork?

This game does get boring playing alone sometimes, you should get some friends and play some pubs together it can get really frustrating playing competetive or just getting out gunned or outplayed by another team. All you can do is practice, you’ve probably heard this a billion times but really its the only way.

Dirty bomb is a much faster shooter paced shooter than games like TF2 or CS:GO so there should be a pretty big learning curve there I also came from TF2 but didn’t experience too much of a learning curve (probably because I started playing when open beta came out and a lot of people didn’t really know what they were doing back then lol).

There are different loadout cards that have different guns so you don’t just end up with the burst fire weapons I would reccomend checking those cards out or just start practicing with the new guns

Thank you for the advice! I’m getting better over time, it’s just been a while since I’ve had to learn how to play a game… both refreshing and challenging.

Welcome to the game! It’s awesome!

Aura: Stick with your team, your healing station is great for holding strategic points and keeping people in the fight longer. Charge up your revive paddles to max so your allies get full health wen revived (unless you have the Get Up augment, then you can charge it halfway for the same effect).

Proxy: You can play her two ways- charge the objective and complete it as fast as possible, or you can flank enemies with your speed. Coming up behind someone and blasting them with a shotgun to the head is highly effective. If you run up on a group of them camping, toss a mine down in the group and shoot it so it blows up immediately. Use your mines as early warning detection systems to let you know when enemies are coming up certain paths. Personally, I use the mines offensively, bouncing off walls towards enemies and tossing them down in the group.

Arty and Kira: Both of these have longer ranged weapons and abilities and should be staying towards the back, at a range. Their weapons are all highly accurate and great at distance compared to other weapons. Always aim for the head, if you do, you will destroy everyone since the burst fire rifles and dreiss have some of the highest DPS’s in the game. Use their abilities to destroy EV’s or force the enemies to retreat. Always give out ammo to your allies.

Burst fire rifles: I personally don’t use these mercs too much, but you always want to aim for the head, a full burst can pretty much kill medium-light mercs instantly. Stay at a distance, your weapons are better than SMG’s or AR’s at range.

Shotguns: Get up close and personal with it. Bounce off walls to close the distance, and only pull the trigger when they pass through your crosshair. Aim for the upper chest, this maximizes the damage as some of the pellets will go into their head.
