Longevity of Dirty Bomb?

I’m enjoying the game, I have every Merc and a good loadout for them, but I really fear for the longevity of this game.

It really feels (to me at least) like short term gains are being prioritised over long term retention.

What I mean is that income generation is being prioritised over pretty much everything else. I know they are a small team doing their best, but having a full blown cash model when the game is in “beta” feels wrong.

Pushing out Mercs and their loadouts every few weeks gets income they need, I get that. But also, pushing them out so quick keeps causing balance issues with the vast range of player types and skill levels causing friction in a small community.

However, pushing out new maps, game modes, stat tracking, improving matchmaking and a decent anti hack would grow the player base more and encourage more people to play for longer (especially the anti hack). There’s lots of good games coming out this year, unless we grab peoples interest with long term features now, the game will only ever be a short term cash grab.

I’d just like to hear that there is actually a development plan longer than the next income generation feature and the game is something other than a just quick cash grab…

Yeh i agree with the post, i hit 200 hours in 3 weeks, now ive struggled to get 30 hours in the next month after.

Constantly waiting on content to spark a few extra hours played, playing MM a few times a week for a few games only to destroy low ranked players, or get hacked on with no chance to win and the very very rare case versing a proper dirty cups team or mix 1 in every 25 games and losing gracefully.

Honestly I’d really like new maps (for obj/sw), the stat track stuff up, and anti-cheat/report systems in place before anything right now. New mercs are nice but from what a lot of people have said most of them are finished anyway outside of some tweaking.

The maps we have are fun, but variety is an excellent way to hold people’s attention - it’s why I hope Dome is finalised soon.

They have a number of mercs to reintroduce into the game. This takes time and I’m sure they want to space out the releases to give enough time for feed back.

That being said, they seem to be delivering the mercs fairly steadily since I started playing.
(Kira, Rhino, Sparks, Phantom, Red Eye)

Once all the mercs they have planned for are released and are balanced, we will likely start seeing more of other content.

While I do look forward to seeing some new maps, the current ones are still a blast to play, even if it does get repetitive sometimes. Just changing up your merc or trying something new gives a very different experience.

As for being able to buy stuff with real money, well… the game costs money to make and costs money to maintain and run. We can’t have everyone working for free can we?

While personally I haven’t nor ever will spend a dime on a free to play game (because I’m just like that). I prefer to unlock everything myself, its part of the fun/challenge.

I don’t discourage others from doing so though, since this is not a pay to win game. They are basically only shortcuts to unlocking new mercs.

Help the devs out by buying something, they need to eat too.

This is beta. I would assume all the mercs that were in closed beta will be released before they even think of entering a full release.

I have lots of fun with this game but we need more maps. Lots of more maps. If possible allow the community to create maps as well like back in the days when we had FPS games with 100s of maps created by the community.

Cool dudes! you all have valid points!

I heard from youtube video or stream that SD will release community-created maps in the future. I will try to post the source link when I happen find it again.
