Long Maploadingscreen + Intro=Late ingame

(Yoma) #1

Ya, seems confusing a little ya i keep it short.

My problem is that for example at the first game of the day or sometimes in between aswell the loadingscreen where you see the map (picture) takes a little longer. After that the intro will neverless display while the game actually already started and you can move your merc, but the intro points the camera at the objectives for like 10-13 seconds.

Its not killing me but it is annoying³ seeing this every time and it sometimes makes it impossible to stop the rush repair of the enemy team because youre stuck in the intro.

TL:DR; I would appreciate an Option which would enable us to skip the/all map intros so that even if the loadingscreen takes a little longer, we’re ingame in time to the start of the game.

Don’t know if this is confirmed or not but I’ve heard that the intro is for loading the map.

Next time you get into a game, before the intro starts, in console type “spectate”. You should skip the intro.

You’re not the only one who’s had frustrations with this. There was a thread about this along with a statement from one of the mods. You should check it out.

Sorry if i didnt made myself clear but i was talking about the Intro at the start of a round when you were in lobby before the game started. That intro with “first repair the EV, then escort it…”. If your game sometimes takes longer at the screen before you join ingame (the picture of the map where you have to press an button once its done), the intro will start once its done even if the game already started.

Well, for loading the map you should have it covered by the loadingscreen before the intro. Neverless, it is indeed true that sometimes during the intro things arent spawned yet or are just being spawned during the intro, so it might be true in some sense.

Well, before the intro starts is a problem because if youre late due to the fact that the loadingscreen took longer, the intro will start a little earlier then your screen exits the loadingscreen. However, thanks for this, i will give it a try the next time i encounter a longer loadingscreen.

Maybe, just maybe, longer loading times are caused by your system and hardware?..
I used to have a HDD and switched to an SSD. Loading times are much shorter now.

im getting used to this bug or whatever should be. I think it is hardware related.
I have SSD drive in my laptop, i5 cpu, 8gb ram , but DB having problem with laptop Nvidia gpu . freezing on loading screen and i have to alt+tab out and back so it would load.
usually thats why the intro is out of sync with the gamestart for me.

I almost always missed the first spawn wave before i installed dirty bomb on SSD.

Yes, this might be the cause, i never sayed or tried to imply that the loading times are related to dirty bomb but i would like to have the option to skip the intro because just getting a new pc to spawn 10 seconds earlier and that only once every x games is a little… well… . (Beside every 50-100 games that the loading-screen freezes for a good while my PC is pretty fast on spot for most of the cases in terms of loading, so im fine with it.)

Its just a QoL improvement for me being able to turn intro on or off/skip them/make them that they start even if youre still in loadingscreen. In addition to that, i’m a little tired of the intro after hearing it a dozen thousand times so there wouldnt be just the spawnthingy which would be better without an option around it.

don’t let 'em get the w33d samples to the container…

sometimes the intro especially during the intermezzo in Stopwatch doesn’t show and you jump directly into first person mode seeing the objective markers presented in the intro in the distance. How is that? A bug?

Maybe you really do just need to upgrade your pc. If loading the map takes so longboard that you miss first spawn and get put into the lobby each time, then your pc really needs to be upgraded of its that slow. Either that or your internet. I’m not good at hardware, so idk for sure.

Long’ish load times by people with speedy PC’s are caused because the game is trying to gracefully put you into the game while updating/syncing what you brought with you with everyone else since all cards/mercs aren’t held in memory for all connected clients. Which means even if you have a fast system you’ll still load fairly slow because of all the potato PC’s that have to be accounted for. If you loaded in as fast as possible they might not even see your model or it might be majorly f’d up looking and it would cause lag/hitching for them. There are ways around this to get in earlier but it could cause some texture sync issues for yourself or for other players (which has been seen in some hilarious bugs).

As far as the intro goes Exedore talked about this on stream IIRC. Soon you’ll be able to simply cancel out of the intro and then you can sit there on your character. You won’t be able to move beyond rotating your character but you won’t have to listen to the intro if it bothers you.

I like this. It is kind of frustrating when you load at that one awkward time where it’s not long enough to put you into the lobby, not fast enough to sync up with the first wave, and you end up having to see the intro of the objectives while the rest of your team is getting slaughtered without a Medic.

I feel as if you dont understand my point. All i ask for is an option to skip the intro, not because my PC is terribly slow all day long but because every now and then the loading screen does take a good few seconds longer which causes me to join the game 5-10 seconds late.

About the lobby thing, im talking about me, being inside an game, then the game ends and i stay in that lobby. Then at the start of the new game the loadingscreen takes sometimes longer and after that the intro starts while others already spawned.

Loadingtimes can sometimes take longer without your own PC or bandwidth being the one at fault and for that a simple thing like a button to skip the intro would be enough. It would aswell give everybody, who feel boored after hearing the intro a thousand times, the chance to skip it. Its simply a QoL improvement which isnt hard to implent and would help in more than one way.

I say it once again, my PC is a little older but in most cases the loadingscreen is on spot with all others in the game, but sometimes it isnt. If it would take longer every game, it would be my only my PC’s/bandwidth fault, but thats not the case.

Thanks for sharing this info with us. Is great to hear that its already in their sight and will get an improvement in the near future.
