Long jump help?

(SlixFaz) #1

So is there any easier way to do the long jumps because I see some youtubers do it with no problem

(K1X455) #2

With practice of dexterity, press your Crouch_key and immediately press your Jump_key while in full sprint. Some claim similar resuts byjust pressing jump, then while in mid air, crouch (before landing) because the related in-game physics is the same.

Or you can use the much devated evil script you can joogle.

Doing long jumps didn’t make sense to me until I attempted it. Keep your middle finger planted on W. Release the sprint, and press the Ctrl button with your pinky, and press the jump button with your thumb at the same time. Stay focused on not letting go of W. Even if you fail it, at least your are still moving forward.

that doesn’t sound right at all, where did you hear that?

Or you can use the much devated evil script you can joogle.

or rebind crouch to a more comfortable button.

It took me a moment to get used to as well, but longjumps can be learned, just keep practicing.

Consider switching FOV view change when jumping when practicing, to know when you are doing it right.

This has all the info you need.
Only ShooterInput.ini matters. You can’t copy the bind command straight up, it must be wrote in a special config syntax. You can try this, in the end of [ShooterGame.SGPlayerInputPawn] section paste:
Bindings=(Name=“LeftAlt”,Command=“Duck | Jump”)
But last time I edited the input config manually - no changes took effect in the game, which is strange. Probably some kind of hidden protection. Only binds set from within the game worked.
@Szakalot the Crouch_key is the Duck, Jump_key is Jump

The method can’t be made to work if you’ll need to release your Sprint_key so you’ll need to make sure that the sprint toggle is on.

(treacherousMonorail) #7

I use this directly in shooterinput:
Bindings=(Name=“B”,Command=“Duck | Jump”,Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=True,bIgnoreCtrl=False,bIgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)

My single key long jump was removed a couple of patches and now I have to enter it ever time I join a new game. If it’s there to be uses why did the guys at SD remove the ability to have it bound constantly?

(SirSwag) #9

Yeh I map it externally to a button on my mouse. It saves my poor left hand from prolonged pain

(kibloy) #10

The command in the link cornJester posted worked fine for me and still does without having to reenter it. Make sure no other key is bound to that button, that’s what I had trouble with initially.

@Mister__Wiggles go to My Documents>My Games>UnrealEngine3>ShooterGame>Config and set ShooterInput.ini file as read only in propeties after you set the bind.

@saltyCruller You can easily set longjump under one key in game:

 1. Chose key you want to bind and if it is already in use, unbind it in game settings.
 2. Open console (press ') type: setbind C “Duck | Jump” 1 and press Enter( where C is key you want to bind).

The #1 way to make long jumping easy is to use toggle sprint. I don’t use toggle sprint in most games but I definitely do in DB. Using toggle sprint allows you to easily crouch jump with maximum speed.

As for crouch jumping itself it’s pretty easy as long as you have quick access to both buttons. Press one then the other. Keep practicing it and eventually you’ll get it.

I would highly recommend not using shortcut binds for crouch jumping. It’s not bannable or anything but it’s always better to learn things for yourself.
